• Ms. Gillespie (1st grade) : I was the "slow" kid when it came to learning how to read, & she spent so much extra time w/ me outside of school tutoring me. She even came to my birthday party.
  • Mrs. Moses (5th grade) : She was 22 years old & the most beautiful teacher inside and out. She had a way of explaining things to me & making every subject fun. I used to daydream about her adopting me.

  • Mrs. Ziegler (7th grade, reading) : She had terrible breath, was grouchy, but she saw the good in me & encouraged me in a tough-love way. She died the next year from brain cancer.
  • Ms. Oke (art teacher) : She was a free butterfly. Beautiful olive skin w/ green eyes. One day she opened a map of the U.S., closed her eyes and landed her finger on a city named "Allen, Tx". This is how she ended up teaching at my school. Her voice sounded like Norah Jones.

She had a way of captivating people's attention & making us completely fixated on her whenever she talked. She was compassionate & tender, yet strong and tough. A true woman.
  • Coach Stewart (11th grade, history) : He was attractive as heck. Need I say more? Oh yes, and he loved Jesus. I still think about him.
  • Shakiah Jordan (social work professor) : She had a thick australian accent & the most phenomenal survivor story. She is a powerful woman & told me the best advice: "you have so much compassion on others, but I challenge you to have compassion on yourself"
  • Jared Sparks (social work professor) : He told encouraged me to not quit social work because I have had a challenging past. He told me that I was extremely gifted & that he doesn't just tell anyone that. He said that I would be very effective one day as a therapist.
  • Lea Velez (Grad social work professor): Most encouraging & genuine teacher I've ever met. She see's the good in all her students and is the most hilarious teacher i've had in my entire education experience. I want to be her one day.
