• If you stare at the center of the universe, there is coldness there. A blankness. Ultimately, the universe doesn't care about us. Time doesn't care about us. That's why we have to care about each other.
  • Medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.
  • The cosmos is also within us. We're made of star stuff. We are a way for the cosmos to know itself.
  • Recognize that the very molecules that make up your body, the atoms that construct the molecules, are traceable to the crucibles that were once the centers of high mass stars that exploded their chemically rich guts into the galaxy, enriching pristine gas clouds with the chemistry of life. So that we are all connected to each other biologically, to the earth chemically and to the rest of the universe atomically. That’s kinda cool! That makes me smile and I actually feel quite large at the end of that. It’s not that we are better than the universe, we are part of the universe. We are in the universe and the universe is in us.
  • Every one of us is, in the cosmic perspective, precious. If a human disagrees with you, let him live. in a hundred billion galaxies, you will not find another.
  • When I close my eyes, I see the planets as pirouetting dancers in a cosmic ballet, choreographed by the forces of gravity.
  • We're all traveling through time together, every day of our lives. All we can do is do our best to relish this remarkable ride.
  • Sometimes comets are thought to be lost. And then they come back into orbit. And when they're calculated, scientists found that they weren't lost at all. They're found.
  • No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.
