• almost the same premise as the original, min jung makes taehyung feel like a man, seeing as their first encounter included him punching some guy in the nose and proving is alpha-male-ness
    • he uses min jung as a "muse" of sorts when the company asks him to channel that 'manliness' into his performances, thats why they look so real
    • all this thinking makes him think about min jung more and grows genuinely attracted to her
    • with their new concept and music debuting soon, he has to channel a manly and sexy concept to shed his flower-y, jokester personality. he needs to tap more into his sexy side of his "4d personality".
  • wanting to be taken seriously, sleeping with min jung might help him achieve that look
    • when hyungs of his group finds out he slept with someone, he automatically was thought of as "cool" with a swagger he didn't usually have
    • this causes a huge spike in his ego, and wanting to see min jung more so that he can get "experiences" and less so because he actually likes her
  • tae's ego goes through the roof and it puts a strain on not only his and mj's relationship (they never made it official though), but also with his fellow group members.
    • he is mainly fighting with jimin
    • jm doesn't care that he's seeing min jung, he just doesn't like his new attitude
  • when jk finds out tae is dating min jung, jk is passive aggressive towards tae and that also puts a strain on the group
    • does jk want minjung back?? no.
    • but he did forget she existed, until his group members suddenly are so interested in her and all they do is talk about her (bc gossip in the household is lacking)
  • Min jung likes dating idols because she has always felt a sense of inadequacy with her parents who are artistic, creative types. MJ is artistic and creative but in writing, she is mostly insightful and compassionate. So she feels bad her personality doesn't translate into traditional "art" (visual or musical)
    • so why does dating idols matter?
  • one of MJ's flaws is her eagerness to prove herself. she's a smart ass. she spends her time trying to speak in overtly complicated terms. see previous bullet to see why she would find this a necessity. this overcompensation is a flaw because its annoying. JK broke up with her in the past (granted, he was also young and dumb) because of it.
    • but she is perf for th (and not jk) bc he likes this and finds it cute. th is smart too so it doesnt faze him
  • in a dark turn of events, it turns out jk is hostile towards th and mj not because he's jealous but bc the memories of mj is connected to something more profound
    • what is it? idk figure it out by chap 11/12
    • the scene in the prologue, where he shows up at mj's house is him realizing this and running to her to apologize/confront her idk. but!!!! it's all the way in december so we might have to move it sooner. maybe november?
    • the whole relationship reminds him of time where he was at his lowest, so he blocked out that time, ultimately blocking memories of mj
    • he broke things off with mj bc he felt pressured by debut and also was anxious by the foreboding idea of losing her - like how he had to leave home. he was truly wrought with homesickness and didn't want to feel the same pain if or when mj breaks up with him.
    • so he'll reconcile those feelings with her, not necessarily get back with her, but just to let her know how sorry he's been and now that she's with taehyung then they can truly be friends
