i spend a lot of time reading yoonmin fics because i have no life lol. some of these recommendations have smut. fics that contain any amount of smut are bolded.

all of these are from archive of our own because that's like, the only place i read fics from.

• brotherhood by sugamins - don't let the 26-chapter, 274,000+ word count intimidate you. this baby is a helluva ride. a horribly fucking angsty coming-of-age story, based off the I Need U MV where the 7 of them go on an adventure around South Korea and get lost along the way. the character development in this one is GOOD. the yoonmins here are actually not very blatant until the latter end so if you want some of that action be prepared to stick around or don't commit at all. it's actually a very good BTS fic in general so if you're into that friendship thing please do give this a read!! POV shifts between the 7 of them per chapter so it's super interesting. has vhope on the side.
  • testament of youth by sugamins - sequel to the brotherhood fic, it's just as long and it tells of their story 1 yr after the events of brotherhood. mirrored off prologue. lots of dark disturbing themes, read the tags first before proceeding. if you thought brotherhood was life-ruining, well this is 40x worse.
• when you're in love all the lines get blurred by jflawless - this shit made me cry like a baby but it has a happy ending, i promise! it's really good and i love the characterization. the entire first chapter is pretty much the whole story so the succeeding chapters are just optional side-stories.
  • when you're in love every moment matters by jflawless - this is the sequel which is also really good; i recommend reading it! it's very feel-good and cute.
• pink is the warmest color by dingdongrolling - probably one of the best yoonmin fics i've read to date. it has a good amount of conflict without it turning too dark. has a happy ending and a good amount of smut. don't read if eating disorders trigger you though. this is an AU where yoongi is a famous rapper and jimin is a rising idol. side taekook and namjin.
• strawberry sweet by embryonicgrip - vampire!Yoongi AU. has a decent amount of lore and despite Yoongi being a vampire it's actually a pretty light story. i rly like this specifically because it's a fantasy au done well, since usually the fics i read are just of them being normal people. side taekook and namjin.
• i'll be a gentleman ('cause i'll be your boyfriend) by yururin - the first yoonmin fic i've read; it's a nice, cute oneshot! college!AU, fake dating yoonmin.
• act natural - college!AU yoonmin where jimin is a flirt and he just wants to get yoongi in bed but yoongi wants something more than that. pretty cute and light, has a lot of smut. jimin also works part-time as a pornstar in this fic so it's pretty funny, lol.
• 어둠 속을 밝혀줘 by sungmin - one shot, pwp. jimin meets rich successful yoongi at a bar and it turns into a one-night stand. the title is apparently a title of a VIXX song lmfao
  • if you wanna get the job (you better know who's the boss) by sungmin - sequel of the one above this; has a sugar daddy/baby kink in here and it also involves all the other members where they're all rich and powerful and jimin dances for them but the only real smut is still just between yoonmin.
• not crying on a sunday by abucketofchicken - coming-of-age story where yoongi and his little band of friends are disturbed by the new student, park jimin, who seems like all he does is cry all day. internalized and actual homophobia. grammar is quite atrocious in the early parts but tough it out i swear it's worth it-- has a sequel called "love is patient, love is kind" which is ongoing.
• blueberry muffins by springrain21 - park jimin is a quiet assistant at bangtan news and he manages to draw the 7 o'clock news anchor and his crush, min yoongi's ire. quite possibly one of my favorite yoonmin fics (thanks to ricmae for reccing this!). has an OC but she'S THE MOST LOVABLE OC I'VE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF READING. this fic had me feeling things 24/7.
• game over by mintsoda - rich kid jimin and thief yoongi meet and their worlds are turned upside down. one of my ultimate favorites as well, it's so dramatic i'm in love. also one of my favorite jungkook characterizations. also i just love criminal aus! sighs. mintsoda at it again.
• dear min yoongi by anonymousjxwife - this fic hurt me so bad. it's about kinda nerd jimin with emotionally constipated bad boy min yoongi where jimin has a crush on him and yoongi just uses him for sex and it's awful and unhealthy but it becomes okay in the end!! it's painful sshsjssk
• white noise by rkatz - jimin and yoongi have a Connection. it's physical and it's driving the both of them insane. a good fantasy-ish au set in canonverse (as in they're still bangtan). the concept was amazing the conflict was good and i love how it resolves.

ONGOING

• cotton candy by mintsoda - hoseok and yoongi's band needs a new vocalist and jimin fits the bill. slow burn, mutual pining, underaged stuff, coming-of-age, 90s setting. largely based off the ynwa concept pics and MY GOD, PINK HAIRED JIMIN WITH A BADASS PERSONALITY AND BODY PIERCINGS TOOK MY OXYGEN HOSTAGE.
• saltation by momora - a/b/o, jimin lived a beta life before he finds out he's an omega and now has to live life in the compound where he meets alpha min yoongi. world building is really good, also includes other idols as characters.
• love is patient, love is kind - sequel to "not crying on a sunday", timeskip from the first fic + revisiting of old scenes with a different pov.
