general

  • quick summary - while pip's last investigation still haunts her, she starts to get multiple online threats that she ignores- until they escalate, and she is forced to investigate by herself again, finding commonalities between her stalker and a local serial killer.
  • key themes - self-blame, morality, justice, mystery.
  • fav character - ravi <3 best literary boyfriend!

interests

  • what i found interesting - I read so many mystery books, but they barely talk about the effect the involvement of the characters in these dangerous and traumatic situations can have on them. I loved how jackson did not shy away from showing how broken pip was. the mystery itself was super enthralling as always, although this time I had almost got it right! the second part was the most stressful thing I have ever had, and while I read the first one in one day, I had to divide the second among three because I would just get super anxious.
  • what i learned - while I knew about rigor mortis, I had no idea about the terms livor mortis, lividity, etc. that pip introduces in the book. it was interesting to learn some technical information about a criminal investigation.
  • fav quote - "he was her life raft, her cornerstone for what good truly meant. didn't he know that?" + "you are perfect in all of the ways you aren't like me" </3

books it reminded me of

  • the other agggtm books, of course.

rating

  • 4.5/5 - first of all, pip and ravi are endgame. I love their relationship so much. secondly, so many people (including my sister) were disappointed with the ending but I was not- I think it is only reasonable that someone who had gone through what pippa had was operating in fear. the writing was amazing as ever, and I loved how close and personal this book was to pip's life, emotions, and the people she loved (I love all of them too!). I cried so much reading the last chapters it was not funny. The only thing I thought it was forgotten was charlie green; I was hoping pip would get to some kind of conclusion regarding him and his actions. other than that, an amazing read.
