- disclaimer - this is not meant to be an actual dictionary. Please do not take anything I ever do seriously, ever. These are just phrases I often use, either invented by me or taken from something I watch/read religiously, and these entries are translating for people who don't know what I'm talking about what I actually mean to say. And also, I think it might be fun for folks to get a peek into how my brain works when making these up.
So here we go!
- Jeez - Abbreviation for Jesus, used as an exclamation. End pronounced with a Zed and is said with a hint of a New York accent attempt, to appear more evocative. ("Jeez, when are these dumb school surveys ever going to stop?!") Jeez Louise can be said, though in this case never is.
- Gummy - A teasing/endearing name for a soon-to-be accomplice in a petty childish scheme against establishment figures. The gummy is often an innocent to such matters, easy to fool into doing anything, but is often sweet and trusting enough to win the plan leader's respect in the end. Gummite can also a synonym for them, as well as a general term for the recruiting process.
Term used in the way of first getting their attention, regardless of whether they have no teeth or are chewing gum or not ...("Hey, Gummy, over here," "Listen up, Gummy, 'cause this is where you come in...")Synonyms: precious punkin, angelface, rookie, Smalls (source: The Sandlot), snowflake, little mookie, hon, Junior, and Our Little Scapegoat (often used to other members of the team and not to the Gummite's face, if the plan is not thought to be going well).
- Drab - Two definitions: can mean either:
- a) A boring or less-than-ideal time or moment ("Had to take that math test first hour? Calculus? Jeez, what a drab.") Synonyms: drag, ordeal, rotten time, trip to Cherryland (used sarcastically).
- b) A completely boring, snotty, uptight, or otherwise unappealing person to be with or around ("Brinkley's music teacher refused to let him give his presentation on rock and roll groups, saying 'Not as good as Beethoven'! I mean, does this lady sound a total drab or what?") Synonyms: drag, terror, prude, snide, hatchet, bubble-burster, occasional curse word.
Originally used in the form of a substitute for "drag", on days when the user is so tired from last night's movie binge that their mouth can't make a proper G sound.
