- his communication abilities with pokemon are both verbal and telepathic. he needs to be within a certain distance to be able to hear a telepathic call, and has to be even closer in order to respond. he can also sense when a pokemon is suffering near him; if the pokemon is in any way being prevented from fully broadcasting its thought, he will gain a feeling of unease and be able to tell something is wrong.
- has soft skin, his face in particular is very Smoosh
- soft hair too, just a whole load of fluff
- doesnt like strangers/people he doesnt know well yet touching his hair
- if youre a friend or someone he just likes in general hell let you play with it and will actually enjoy it/find it soothing, but youll probably need to ask permission first
- his eyebrows and scalp are pretty much the only spot youll find any significant hair though, he doesnt know how to shave nor does he need to
- ^ just to explain why the above is important: i want you to imagine someone with green facial/arm hair. are you imagining it? it it weird and vaguely uncomfortable? yeah exactly
- his hair is weirdly kind of indicative of his mood; its fluffier when hes happy and sort of droops a little when hes upset

- fairly androgynous, wouldnt take much effort on his part if he wanted to look particularly feminine
- vegetarian, but will eat meat if he Has to (ie no vegetarian options and hes starving/knows he needs protein/iron/whatever else you get from meat)
- keeps himself quite clean, though he doesnt mind getting dirt/mud/etc on him (so long as he can get rid of it later)
- doesnt like having hands that arent clean, washes them very frequently and goes through quite a bit of hand sanitizer
- he loves and appreciates all pokemon but in particular he really likes bug and grass types
- his void cube (the one you can see him with in the bg i have set on here) from afar looks like its all the same colour but there are coloured patterns etched into each square, meaning he can also solve it without even looking at it
- hes EXTREMELY good at solving puzzles, thinks absolutely nothing of it though because hes had his void cube as long as he can remember and just figures it makes sense that he can solve it so quickly and easily; hes also very familiar with other types of puzzles, doesnt consider his skill with them impressive either
- his fav kinds of puzzles (aside from the cube varieties) are ones involving numbers/math like sudoku, minesweeper(/voltorb flip, which he would fucking KILL at if he ever went to johto), and picross
- skilled at sewing, drawing and woodcarving; hes quite fast about it too
- also fairly decent at cooking; its nothing special, hes just good at following the instructions and measuring stuff properly so theres a low chance of total disaster
- learned sewing from the leavanny who was pretty much his mom when he was still in the forest
- never completely certain exactly how long it was he spent in the woods, knows it was at least three years
- knows enough about ferris wheels that he could build one if given the space and materials
- strangely stronger than he looks
- somewhat childish, but not immature (... most of the time, anyway)
- looks somewhat younger than he actually is
- enjoys toys and plushies and stuff, will not understand or care if you tell him hes too old for it, dont be an ass
- hes aware of his own naivety/childlike nature but dislikes being called/treated like a child (doesnt mind being called kid, though, as long as youre actually older than he is)
- tries his hardest to be friendly to everyone but has difficulty expressing things sometimes, hes also still not all that great at talking to humans yet but hes trying
- very booksmart, little to no streetsmarts
- likes kids + is good with them, will not be needlessly condescending to them or yell at them for making innocent mistakes, will get upset with you if you start mistreating a child near him. big bro pine tree instincts kick in real easy
- occasionally catlike in behaviour; he does that thing where he leaves his tongue hanging out of his mouth and forgets about it, has fairly long nails and enjoys being pet on the head
- if you flirt with him he will be absolutely clueless until either he figures out whats happening or it is stated outright in which case he becomes a Fucking Mess and has no idea what to say
- pulls his hair around his face to sort of hide in it when flustered/embarrassed/sad
- a goodboy
- he can be a little sassy sometimes but for the most part he is a goodboy
- usually avoids swearing, he has never (directly) done a f*ck or sh*t word and is unlikely to use an ass word, but he might sometimes. he isnt particularly reluctant to use the word hell, but its not usually as an expletive, more as a descriptive word
- doesnt judge others for cussing or anything, i mean. he gets along with guzma. hes clearly got some tolerance for it. he just doesnt do it
- understands the concept of an innuendo but doesnt usually recognize them at first glance
- usually speaks quickly but runs out of words and has to pause and reload. since he has no sense of pacing he just gets all his thoughts out of his mouth before he can think about what comes next, and also he needs to breathe for a second
- also eats very quickly to the point where you may be concerned he will choke but hes completely fine
- usually a light eater but he can absolutely decimate an absurd amount of food extremely quickly if hes feeling really hungry
- makes more jokes than you may think, its just somewhat hard to tell sometimes. if you react to one of his jokes thinking it was serious, he usually plays along as if he was definitely 100% serious and then eventually just sorta looks at you and starts cracking up, mostly if the basis was him joking about doing something and the response was "N DO NOT DO THAT", or something similar to that. he wont do it if he thinks it would be mean, its only with harmless stuff; the reaction hes looking for is "..... n i swear to GOD" after he says he was just playing around followed by playful scolding, not actually making someone sad or worried
- uses mr/miss/mx honorifics (thats the term right ??) when referring to cops and other figures of authority, and sometimes just if he feels like he should (or if he finds it kind of funny when paired with an odd nickname, hed probably find it pretty humorous if someone called him mr pine tree)
- dislikes being confined/cooped up anywhere for too long, ESPECIALLY in hospitals. very easily gets stubborn and childish when told to stay put somewhere, but this isnt without good reason considering what happened the last time someone forced him to stay somewhere and didnt let him go outside
- hates going to clinics/hospitals and will not only resist being taken there in the first place he may end up attacking the doctors if hes feisty or uncomfortable enough. if he doesnt resist or willingly asks to be taken to a hospital, something is Very Fucking Wrong (it took two doses of nihilego poison and accidentally swallowing a necklace for him to actually request a hospital visit)
- can do a ballet but probably will not do a ballet unless prompted or if hes just supremely bored
- skilled pianist, hes good at most instruments in general, particularly any which involve a lot of hand/finger movement
- doesnt make a lot of eye contact usually, but if hes being stubborn or challenging you (not in a pkmn battle, its intellectually) he will make Very Intense Unbreaking Eye Contact, and frequently manages to do something ridiculous/complicated without looking away just to prove his point
