  • The boyfriend was in town so I had someone to cuddle with during my study breaks.
  • Getting everything I really wanted from my Amazon wish list and deleting the rest.
  • Even more books. I found a seller on eBay who offered nothing but awesome books so couldn't resist and bought five.
  • A trip to Austria (supermarket tour, as usual) - getting delicious goat milk products, fruity beer and cookies.
  • My genuine coral necklace for which I get so many compliments these days (finally redeemed my birthday gift voucher)
  • Large white index cards and black ink. Single best thing to keep me organised.
  • !"§$%&/ study time is over, exam is written, major FUCK YEAH.
  • Teaching my cousins questionable knowledge about edible plants and turning their puzzle upside down to make it harder. I was amazed they were into it and actually figured out how to do it even without the motive.
  • Social contacts after living like a study hermit for weeks (it was gross, believe me).
  • A lovely skirt, some records and a lovely illustrated book about animals and plants from the thrift store.
  • Being back home with my unusually lovehungry cats.
  • Cat Power's album Sun.
  • Vague plans about working or studying in France.
  • Swimming in the clear, turquoise blue lake for 1,5hours straight.
  • Getting rid of so much stuff at the flea market. It was really hot and I had lovely company. The sellers next to us were like a car tuner couple but it turned out they had a little daughter and I liked them all very very much.
  • Meeting many friendly dogs at the flea market.
  • Brotzeit in the beer garden at night.
  • It was so funny when Lexi managed to be stopped by the police after having her license for one or two weeks. I have never ever been stopped by the police in many years.
  • Seeing six shooting stars in only one night!
  • Discovering my pretty impressive sense of location skills. Once I've been to a place I memorise everything and will always find my way back. Streets as well as buildings.
  • Eating leftovers from a birthday party for breakfast.
  • Getting out of the car and being greeted by a lovely Golden Retriever looking for sausages (?).
  • Reconnecting with a friend, lovely dinner, singstar!
  • A day of weird coincidences. I had strong feelings about nature during the day while swimming in a lake, looking up at the sky, the sun and clouds, looking into the woods. My brain goes all fuzzy when I think about sitting on a little planet in infinite nothingness and there happens to be a very bright and hot planet floating around, too. After watching Prometheus I also recognised how unique the Earth's conditions are to make human life possible. I had similar feelings that night I saw so many shooting stars. Then I fell asleep in the afternoon and had vivid dreams about people I love, about stars and the night sky. In the evening my brother liked Pantheism on Facebook. Oh and that night I dreamt about being underwater, gigantic ocean waves over me, whales... I'm pretty scared of the deep sea. What's up with nature lately?!
  • Oh, yeah, and of course: Swimming in lakes! Ah! Love of my life. I swam upstream today (it's a dammed lake) which was scary because there just was no goal anymore - I could have swum upstream all the way to the Bavarian Forest. I managed to swim for more than 2 hours straight, about 3km (yeah I'm slow). Now everything hurts but I'm happy. Swimming in lakes is my kind of meditation.
  • Raspberry shampoo.
  • My nasturtium plant has SO many blossoms, seriously.
  • Homegrown parsley.
  • Not eating sugar. It makes me feel so much more balanced.
  • I gotta water the neighbour's plants and maybe I can sneakily spend some time in their garden while they're gone. I'm also thinking about some guerilla gardening... I might buy some lovely flowers and plant them as a welcome back surprise.
  • Ordering so many books I'm excited about at the library (along with literature for my thesis, boo).
  • Day trips to Český Krumlov and Attersee/Traunsee in Austria. The Attersee water was bright turquoise and clear, beautiful. And Český Krumlov is world cultural heritage, a lovely (but touristy) little town in Czech Republic. I bought a poster and delicious soap in a botanics shop.
  • Chanterelles in Austria and Laibon in Krumlov, a little restaurant with a river terrace and delicious vegetarian food.
  • Blueberries. I seriously ate more than 1kg this month.
  • A 3hour phone talk with Monica. That night I even dreamed about here, we were sitting in the ocean and waited for huge waves to arrive. And someone gave birth. And named the baby Chermaine. Ok...
  • Reading Cheryl Strayed's memoir Wild. It was very meaningful for me and yes, I cried several times. I get the feeling I desperately need to reconnect with nature.
  • And also Maria Emmerich's book Secrets to a Healthy Metabolism as well as Ruth Reichl's Garlic and Sapphires. Finally I'm in love with books again.
  • It's fig season. Finally. Praise the Lord.
  • I just thought of that smell in late October when you're taking a walk outside at night and the people have already got their chimneys fired. Cool and smokey and a little bit like rain. I fear autumn is coming very soon. Right now the air smells like overripe plums and apples hanging heavily on trees.
  • Reading on a lazy Saturday afternoon. It's cool enough to lie under the blanket. The window is open and it's raining all day.
  • I had a dream last night about being at McDonald's with my dad. He's dead for 2 years now this month.
