  • Meeting Doris, my new art colleague, for the first time. I think we'll get along famously.
  • A quick visit in Landshut and spending a little time with my mum.
  • Meeting Elsa, Franzi (and Ralf) for dinner at Goldmarie, drinks at Vesperia/Substanz. Spending an afternoon at Maria Einsiedel together, playing Machi Koro. And a present with a pink bow, wrapped in golden glitter paper: *very* late birthday presents. Pug stamps, temporary tattoos and pineapple lip balm #sausüß
  • Eating my first red homegrown tomato.
  • Indian food and drinks at Café Jasmin with Fricki. We hadn't seen each other for about 8 years and yet we felt comfortable and normal around each other, as if we had just hopped off the train from Paris together. It's good to know people like that.
  • The fact that many of my friends are generous people and rather carefree when it comes to money. Is it a good experience? Then it's worth the money. Just the way I see it.
  • A Game of Thrones viewing marathon.
  • Picking everyone up on a Saturday, a short pit-stop at the gas station. Driving north to Schierling for Labertal Festival! Practising my Lower-Bavarian ("Du sprichst seine Sprache!"), guarana wine, cheap beer, GREAT bands (best: the Baboon Show and the Correspondents), tornado potatoes and late-night kebap. After a short rain shower there was a beautiful sunset and the atmosphere was wonderful in the small, hilly festival area. A selfie with Frank (=Jesus), HARD dancing. Meeting Bert and spending some time together. We actually still like each other. Also, Frank kept me as warm as he could when my teeth were chattering pathetically and triggered his protective instinct #warmhaltetiger
  • Sunday breakfast: pizza!
  • Reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - of course, it's not a novel and no, it's not the same. But it's a new Harry Potter book! It brings back a hint of the feeling you had when the latest book came out and you spent the whole day reading. I actually managed to read 1000 pages in less than two days back then.
  • Spending an afternoon with the Americans (Shlee, Kil, Gabe, Jilian and the boys, Remy and Felix) at the Muffat beergarden, hunting Pokémon, walking along the Isar, playing swing with Felix and teaching him how to count to five in German, at Deutsches Museum and having a nice dinner at Cooperativa #guessWHAT
  • Japanese food outside in Baaderstraße with Lexi. Getting 0,5l cocktails to go and spending the rest of the evening at the river.
  • Wearing more dresses and jewellery again.
  • Essie's gel polish.
  • An evening at Hollywood Super Bowling with the gang. Weird Mexican food and bucket-sized Long Island Ice Teas. We played four rounds and I worked my way up from last to first place! Still, in the end the others were unapologetically drunk and tried to keep each other from scoring so I wonder if they'll ever let us play there again. I even managed to lose my bowling ball by letting it fall into the wrong direction because my fingers hurt so much.
  • White chocolate covered pistachio ice-cream.
  • Finally decorating my laptop with stickers (some bought in Tokyo and some by Iraville).
  • Vietnamese food saved us after a downright ramen disaster at the trendy Japanese Izakaya. Ah, Bun Chay <3
  • Talking to Franzi on the phone on a cold, rainy morning.
  • Getting drunk with Bert, very good Korean food at Arisu, mocking each other ("You'll recognise me by my red suit and yellow shoulder pads!" - "I've got a 50 Shades of Gray book in my hand and pink carnation in my button hole!"). What a blast from the past. We're not THAT bad together after all.
  • Sharing my craft beer with strangers and a compliment for my red flower dress (which I pulled out of an old eBay bad in the cellar actually).
  • Walking over St.-Anna-Platz, one of my favourite neighbourhoods in Munich.
  • Visiting Lena and Christian for a blueberry pancake brunch. I got truffle salt as a gift! So good.
  • How to be awesome at feeling awesome.
  • Okay, and to conclude this entry for August I will have to write about my trips to Berlin and Lisbon during the second half of the month. What a summer. Okay, I'll try to remember the great moments as good as possible... Let's start!
  • BERLIN: Sepnding 7 hours in a car with beautiful Franzi (BumBum! 200km/h! Talking about all the things!) / cheap Vietnamese street food / Sisyphos club, trying hard to relax and actually dancing to techno music, falling asleep on a weird spotty mattress, an open air piano / Jana's wonderful shabby-but-sexy Berlin flat, beautiful artworks and crazy ideas (confetti wall!) / breakfast from the wholefood store / Julian Rosefeldt's Manifesto exhibition with Cate Blanchett at Hamburger Bahnhof / the Sarah Wiener restaurant, Lillet Wildberry, marzipan torte / squeezing into every photobooth we could find / watching Toni Erdmann / Berlin street art / a very happy baby at the breakfast table / Ritter Sport chocolate with golden stars / finally starting to like Mathias, a lot / walking to all the ice-cream parlors in his Kiez / going through his daughters toys, getting the feeling we'd get along famously / his awesome apartment, the nail polish collection in the bathroom and the green COS dress / going grocery shopping together, spending an afternoon at a hidden lake / late-night kebab / Life of Brian on TV / walking into the Tim Raue bar late at night, ordering 15€ cocktails - it made us feel so special; what a beautiful atmosphere / walking through the Holocaust memorial at 2am / a tearful goodbye, realising how much I have to change, to improve, and how much I envy Mathias in a way / seeing a shooting star from the rooftop / Tontsoku ramen with Markus / drinking wine out of pink plastic glasses at the Spree, at the back of a tourist bus / making out at Zoologischer Garten / Klunkerkranich / new sunglasses / Libanese breakfast / the Biennale boat trip on the Spree / the Kathi-poster I found during my stop in Dresden, and the visit at the bakery / playing Activity with my family before going home to Munich
  • LISBON: It was such a spontaneous decision but I booked a flight to Lisbon two days before take-off, alone. Good thing. / The Mad Men colours in the staircase; burgundy and robin's egg blue. And the baby blue mail boxes. / taking the perfect picture of myself in front of a Monstera shower curtain / wearing nothing but a sleeveless dress and my Birks, golden leaf earrings and sunglasses / that one guy who always approached me in front of Gelato Davvero / Santini ice-cream! / these wonderful blue and white tiles all over the city, metro artworks, the architecture / sushi with crispy wasabi nuts and salmon / watching the sunrise at the ocean (yeah, ok, Tajo river...), being okay with my solitude but at the same time appreciating random guys talking to me / getting to see a Gisela Joao faco concert for free / discovering a great vegan restaurant by chance / meeting Adán at Club Carib, dirty dancing, the dj fanning his crowd / spending the day with Adán, breakfast in a beautiful little café, trying to learn Portuguese with the help of children's books, miradouro-hopping, strolling over the fleamarket, sitting in the Jardim Botto Machado and walking past the pantheon to his flat in Alfama; taking a taxi to the hostel, seeing the sunrise over a rooftop pool, checking out the Timeout food market / eating a hot dog in the middle of Sporting Lisboa fans, watching E.T. at the open air cinema / spending the day with Adán in Belém; eating warm pasteis with a sprinkle of cinnamon, getting a little history lesson over a map of the Portuguese conquests on the floor, sitting in front of the Belém tower and the tiny beach, coming up with an anagram game (Adán solved all my words frustratingly fast, apparently he competed in the Spanish Scrabble world championship); running into Camille and Marie-Laure who had missed their flight the day before / eating dinner with the girls (sharing six slices of delicious pizza), having ginja out of chocolate cups and meeting at Club Carib for the last time / playing the cello with Nikolai at 3 in the morning; talking about Beethoven and the movie The Fall / a day at the beach in Cascais, *very* good food at the Armorgueria (while sitting on a balcony, super fancy), drinking hot chocolate at the House of Wonders rooftop and having even more Santini ice-cream / breakfast with Adán at Café Tati / A wonderful day in Sintra, visiting Palacio da Pena and Quinta da Regaleira, both immensely pretty. The former bright and colourful, the latter like a gothic castle with an amazing park - wells, labyrinths, a grotto, a waterfall - wow. / I got an appointment with Adán's scary Brazilian hairdresser friend (for getting his lost phone back from a TukTuk guy) who ombré'd my hair pretty nicely while Adán and me were plaing Scrabble / getting my own customised Magnum with toppings / spending the evening at LX Factory after seeing another open air concert (jazz bigband). // Edit, January 2017: I just realised that I had the full Lisbon experience; thanks to Adán I pretty much tasted and saw everything, from an insider's perspective, too. I'm so thankful for this trip and the lucky encounter. He actually wrote to me on New Year's Eve and said that I made his year a little more beautiful. I can definitely say the same for him.
