• My first Somatic Experiencing session with Alexander. Who appears to be a borderline-autistic, joyless, arrogant asshole. But he's not... he's super sensitive and empathetic, I assume. It might just be his way to protect himself. I think I've got a lot to learn from him.
  • Using a BloPen for the first time since my childhood.
  • Our choir practice in the local church. Goofing around during Jingle Bells.
  • A busy day: meeting Manu, Mephy and Maria. Stopping at my old school, carrying boxes to the car. And a lovely meet-up at Jazz' place in the evening. We talked about menstruation, health, mental health - and had all the snacks in the world.
  • Two firsts with Maria: 1. Café Luitpold (with an incredible gemstone-shaped ceiling) 2. My very first art auction! It was absolutely fantastic. You could look at all these amazing artworks, get glossy catalogues and pencils for free, and then watch people fight over paintings in a fancy, serene atmosphere surrounded by stylish people. I was happy I didn't get a bidder number as I was quite tempted to raise my hand a few times.
  • Wearing my Christmas pyjamas, listening to old Holiday classics. Painting our windows with buttermilk. Lighting the candles with matches instead of a lighter. Home alone.
  • Our Christmas concert! Wearing a golden sequin dress and a coat with a black fur collar. Talking to the bass (Christian, the one choir member I actually like so far). I met Annett, a vocal coach I might start working with in January. I was also moved to tears by a beautiful alto solo performance. The girl can't have been older than 15.
  • Arriving in Bangkok. It was surprisingly calm and convenient to get to our hotel. We only had to walk a few steps to reach a massage studio, delicious restaurants and of course a 7-Eleven (I'm obsessed with the tiny packets of cosmetics and remedies they offer).
  • Driving through the Ancient City in a golf cart on a sunny late afternoon. Having fun together, taking short videos of ourselves. Writing a wish (to find a way to live together harmoniously, all three of us) on a golden Bodhi leaf and leaving it next to a real Bodhi tree outside a temple. I pocketed one of the fallen Bodhi leaves and glued it into my journal.
  • Feeling tiny under the gigantic three-headed elephant sculpture at Erawan museum.
  • Meeting C.'s colleague Henry over dinner.
  • Picking up a kitten. It was light enough to rest on my forearm only and left it's paws dangle down on both sides. Such a sweetie.
  • Our visit to the MOCA (contemporary art museum) was fascinating. I was already overstimulated after the first two floors. They had some traditional art from Thailand on display but I was drawn to the local surrealist painters. Oh and I got a Blue Sky smoothie at their cafe. It looked like the original Windows desktop background image, the one with the green field under a very blue sky with a few white clouds.
  • Taking the night train! We had upper bunks and the train was pretty run down but I loved having my own little space once I'd drawn the curtains. Perfect way to travel! I hope Europe will expand their night train network soon.
  • Diving with Laura - a very chill, queer Australian. Sympathy points!
  • The Queen's cabaret: a lip sync and dance performance with drag artists. I felt tears of joy running down my cheeks after the first few minutes.
  • Hanging out at the beach late at night. Having a cocktail and a massage. Listening to the waves lapping against the shore.
  • We found the perfect restaurant! They make absolutely delicious and cheap Burmese food. I've never had this type of food, it's super interesting to order new dishes to taste. They're also very friendly AND serve a lovely passion fruit smoothie.
  • Finally getting a scooter. I always feel so free when I do. We went down to a little beach in the south, snorkelled around a few rocks, had sour veggie curry on a beach restaurant and then C. discovered a beach club area. The sound and lights were already on but no one was there yet. We hung out there for a while and enjoyed our private pre-party (of course we left before the masses arrived).
  • Talking to the owner of "Wizards of Koh Tao". Buying a cheap synchrony oracle card deck and two gummies.
  • Puang Kraam - the "Wisteria of Thailand".
  • I surprised C. with a "Trust the Chef" 10-course dinner for his birthday. He absolutely loved it. We had sunset drinks, petted the owner's dog and were then treated to a culinary journey through Thailand. They even gave us postcards and stamps - I sent mine to Helga and Marlies.
  • Chatuchak weekend market! Hunting down a purple Annoyed Alien Fuggler after seeing one on a vendor's purse and falling in love at first sight. Finding a store that exclusively sold vintage silk scarves. I also got a mustard yellow kimono jacket, some bracelets and a YSL bag.
  • Riding rickety old bikes through Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park. Climbing up a birdwatching tower. Collecting leaves. Balancing on narrow lanes along the canal. Passing lush green jungle patches, marvelling at the sunset.
  • I had an eye infection when we came home from our bike ride so I took a cab to the pharmacy. The antibacterial eye drops were dirt cheap but I still didn't have enough cash left. After a few failed attempts with a payment app the pharmacist showed me a translation on her phone: "I gave you 20 Baht!" I was touched by her kindness and came back with chocolate to thank her (7-Eleven accepted my credit card...)
  • Watching the Addams Family movies on the flight back. Playing a bubble shooter game and eating delicious red velvet dessert cream.
  • Waking up jetlagged at 3AM. Decorating the Christmas tree (Korean fir) with ornaments I found at the charity shop and some of my jewellery. I was a little emotional because I kept thinking about my mum. How much she would have loved the colours I chose. And that I put the little felted Christmas fairy she loved so much on one of the branches. Some of the necklaces were actually hers too. She was just like me: she felt sad about cutting down trees but still she couldn't help buying a fir tree every year. I think she loved Christmas. This year it's the first time I have my own tree. I'm going to have myself a merry little Christmas.
