- Losing 12kg over the course of January. Still losing more than 2kg every week. Staying motivated (so far). Getting faster and stronger (still working on better and harder).
- Sunshine in the afternoon! Walking through Olympiapark to go swimming. Being pushed hard by some other swimmers, I had to put in a lot of effort to keep up but felt really good afterwards.
- Meeting my goal to visit every single public bath (indoor) in Munich! In summer I'll do the same with the outdoor pools.
- The acceleration of addictiveness.
- Random traffic flirts (that dude in the yellow van drives like an asshole but sure looks hot - and waved at me, squee!)
- Haribo Drama Lama. Especially the green ones. And the new Haribo penguins with less sugar! Finally.
- Seeing Kiki Smith's exhibition opening for free at Haus der Kunst and eating at Aloha Poke with Lena.
- The hyacinth growing on my windowsill. It's the perfect shade of purple.
- Overcoming listlessness and going outside/swimming/working out anyway. Afterwards you feel great no matter what.
- The food that made you.
- Master of None is a surprisingly good show. I celebrate tall bearded men (Eric Wareheim), the talent and swag of Lena Waithe and the beauty of Alessandra Mastronardi. And speaking of TV: the latest season of The Magicians made me like that show so much more. They are masters of fantasy meeting pop-culture references. That episode with Eliot and Margo talking in code so the fairy queen wouldn't understand what they were saying was awesome.
- The 'Arnold press'. That name... great arm workout, too!
- Seeing a green woodpecker during my lunch break walk.
- Green tea infused with coconut (and mango).
- Productivity high! Data backup, decluttering, washing the bedlinnen, meal prep (...) Being motivated enough to clean up my cellar!!! I got rid of the disgusting, half-eaten carpet and large boxes of other crap. Now I still have five large IKEA bags worth of clothes and I have yet to decide what to do with them.
- If birds left tracks in the sky this is what they'd look like.
- Tofu fried in soy sauce, fish sauce and a dash of coconut milk. SO good.
- Sending snail mail! I love drawing on envelopes and handlettering the address.
- Relaxing in the outdoor pool late at night. Breathing in - floating, breathing out - sinking. Icy cold winter air, warm water, hardly any people around. I love going swimming very late. And practising my underwater handstands.
- My new rainbow bathing suit.
- Inventing weird games for Eliyas. He's lovely when he's laughing. Pillow fighting and the office chair carousel were a big hit! Making him fall asleep at the car shop, having him sleep in my arms, making ugly faces for him and feeding him my spring rolls. What a cutie. An exhausting cutie. Oh and I taught him how to ride on the escalator!
- Shopping at Hab&Gut - I found English books for my students, a very pretty handmade bowl and a cobalt blue silk scarf.
- Watching the Olympic ice hockey match between Sweden's and Switzerland's woman teams. I already got a ticket for a DEL game in Munich because I realised how much I love watching ice-hockey. There is always such a special atmosphere in the stadium.
- Overtaking one of the really fit gym guys at the pool. He eyed me quite suspiciously all the time. Like, how is it even possible that this fat chick is faster than me?!
- A dream about old Munich before the building boom, art teacher envy (glamorous artsy boho ladies with insanely talented students) and giving an interview to SZ about theatre and my own book. The next night it was driving around a Russian city with my mum and another school dream (class 6b apparently knows how to form a magic circle... wicked).
- Alnatura has white matcha chocolate now! YESSS!
- I discovered Queer Eye For The Straight Guy - an old TV show where five gays get a straight dude's life in order. It's awesome. There is an updated version on Netflix right now - I'm in love with Neal from episode two. And Jonathan Van Ness of course.
- And I like the Brothers Green cooking channel.
- Lena Dunham on her hysterectomy.
- I might get a foster cat in March! Ms Effi might live with me while her mum is visiting the man of her dreams in Colombia! How did I even manifest this? The universe has its wicked ways... | EDIT: She's already gonna move in on Saturday! OMG. And she has her very own Insta account.
- Eating Yuzu ramen at AOI with Lena and Lexi. Breaking the exciting news about Effi and finding a backup foster mum in Lexi. Going to the theatre together.
- Students telling me that they look forward to their next lesson with me. One week before.
- I didn't know that rather simple ideas can be so impressive for, I don't know, non-creative people? Well, easy praise, I'll take it. (regarding the meeting for our school's anniversary)
- Being able to give a very semi-motivated student a good grade. She was so happy.
- Changing my desktop wallpaper whenever I need to look at something fresh and new.
- Maximalism.
- The Aldi Bio cookies are fantastic. Seriously. So good. There are matcha cookies, some with chia or cherry - delicious. And not expensive at all.
- I enjoy reading Michalis Pantelouris' book Liebe zukünftige Lieblingsfrau - I sometimes read his columns when he still wrote them for SZ magazine but the book is so much more. You know you really like a book when you choose reading over watching Netflix in the evening even though you're tired.
- Getting back on track after two days of shitty eating.
- Drawing on the envelopes for the books I'm selling on Amazon marketplace.
- Pho with coriander, tofu and yoghurt for breakfast. And homemade coconut pancakes.
- Working. On a Friday night. Getting things done.
- Silk painting! I'm currently painting an underwater scene on a pillowcase with two mermaids, inspired by Pushing Daisies' The Darling Mermaid Darlings (and Arielle, of course).
- Bebe Repair Balm. So much healthier for my lips than regular chapstick.
- Amarelo (yellow in Portugese). Here is a nice photo collection dedicated to this colour.
- The fact that the sun rises so much earlier now and I don't arrive at work in total darkness.
- And that Juana know the morse alphabet by heart and communicates through the wall with her mum in the morning!
- The first strawberry of the year. There was a delicious smell when I entered the supermarket and I was like... I love this! What is it? Oooh, strawberries! So I knew I had to have them. I didn't even know what it was at first, it took a few seconds to realise what I was smelling.
