  • I got up at 7am on Sunday and soon after the sunshine found its way through my windows, the elderly couple across the street opened their large balcony doors and listened to opera and piano concertos. Great way to start the day!
  • Anna, a German tv series from 1987, which reminds me of my childhood.
  • Wonderful cheese from the wholefood store: different kinds of goat cheese, alpine cheese and even mango cheese. And sourdough bread. And radishes. Yes.
  • Unexpected fireworks, especially the gold glitter ones which I like best!
  • Fun at the art department's summer party. Even though the weather was rubbish, we sat outside, had Radler and awesome food, a little fire, we listened to CCR and talked about the important and unimportant little things.
  • I just realised something about a big decision I used to regret because I chose safety over growth: If I had decided differently I wouldn't know all the amazing friends I have now. I wouldn't have made great experiences etc. So I guess I am exactly where I am supposed to be.
  • Seeing someone going in the other direction picking up a hitchhiker made me happy. I want to take one with me as well next time!
  • Couscous with vegetables and sour cream.
  • Being asked the way by a lovely Pakistani-Canadian couple and ending up talking for 15 Minutes.
  • I sent my broken water kettle back to the manufacturer and got a new one, just like that, even though I bought it more than two years ago.
  • An exceptionally lazy afternoon: doing nothing but catching up on Raising Hope and cuddling
  • Some recent purchases I'm happy about: two lovely Turkish pestemals (cotton towels) in green and beige, a Clarisonic Mia, two Patti Smith LPs
  • I just boiled exactly the right amount for three cups of tea I didn't know I wanted (I couldn't decide on the flavour)
  • A visit from some friends to prevent me from studying on a rainy Sunday.
  • Somewhere I read about "alone-together time" - something I like a lot but is often not really possible because we live in these tiny tiny flats at the moment. And yet we managed to be in the same room while studying, the weather was rainy with a lot of thunderstorms... it felt very cosy.
  • A very beautiful website discovery: Kathryn Sora. Why is it that I tend to feel especially inspired and creative when I have superimportant other stuff to do?!
  • Sending a large, colourful letter filled with little gifts, books and drawings to Lena, who feels a little sad a the moment. As soon as she received it she contacted me and said she cheered up immediately!
  • Painting my keys with nail polish! One turned out sticky but the other ones are great! Now I will always find the right one. And the best thing is: I can just change the colours any time by using nail polish remover.
  • I finally stopped procrastinating and started studying a little bit (I took cleaning not only my whole flat but my boyfriend's as well before this could happen).
  • And I decided that I won't buy bottled water anymore, at least for now (I hope I'll drink enough... this used to be an issue when I didn't have full bottles at home).
  • Longest Acres - I read through the whole archive and now I want to live on a farm.
  • Culinary inspiration from Israel.
  • Dreaming all kinds of things about my friends and in the morning - and this has never happened so far - I kept dreaming about going to the bathroom until I realised that I had to pee IRL. Weird.
  • Sleeping too long, but dreaming of being romantically involved with Greg Germann and Hugh Grant - we were actually in a movie... I think Sean Bean and Busy Phillips might have also been there? In the end it was christmassy, my "cousin" Dominik joined and Hugh showed "the scene with the funny glasses" from his movie Love Actually (which I invented, apparently).
  • Sitting in my car, having an epiphany: I am done with the city I currently live in. I want to get out of here as soon as possible.
  • A new wish. An old house with a lot of home improvment options, a large vegetable garden and some pets (a goat, chicken, cats). A little pond. Or a big pond for swimming. But a) I need to find someone to share this house with me b) I also want to travel a lot so... what about the plants and the pets? c) I have no money. Anyway, thinking about this house and imagining some details makes me happy.
  • Practising my French on duolingo.com.
  • The month of baking: Zucchini cake. Ah. Yes. Nom. Oh. The best. Low carb bread and Bergsteigerbrot (wholemeal cookie dough with all kinds of nuts, dried fruit and honey). A variation of Rose Bakery's lemon cake (with poppy seeds and redcurrant), another low carb bread with sunflower seeds and almond flour.
  • Nesting in general. This month felt very domestic, maybe because I was subconciously searching for "meaningful" things to do in order to divert myself from studying. Repotting plants, making herbal lemonade (apple juice, peppermint, lemons, ginger, lemonbalm and elderflower syrup). An awful lot of cleaning. Trying out Eva's zucchini-basil gnocchi, courgette soup with halloumi. Goat cheese. I love goat cheese. I love goats. I need a goat in my life. Alphabet soup.
  • NY Times Magazine's Approval Matrix. I stupidly click it every few days instead of waiting for Monday.
  • The Iron Lady (I have a bit of an obsession with Margaret Thatcher lately) and this actress, who plays the young Thatcher in the film.
  • I finally found a comprehensible tutorial on how to knit socks. Now I only need some time to try it out.
  • My new record player. Best buy ever. I can never fully concentrate when I listen to music on my computer. Yet another step towards my limit screen time goal. It’s kinda pathetic how my computer runs pretty much all day long even when I’m doing somthing else.
  • The idea for my new tumblr Ars Gratia Artis - La Femme Circonflexe.
  • Lovely coincidences. Finding someone on eBay who lives just a few hundred metres away from me and sells gorgeous printer's remainders. After some negotiation I got a full Helvetica print letter set with large wooden drawers for merely 70€. And he will also be the guy who is going to print my future art print editions! I was looking for a printer anyway. Thanks, universe.
  • Plants. Many many plants. And seeds. I love watching things grow. I guess this explains a lot.
  • Unreasonable tattoo inspiration.
  • Stalking people based on their eBay spending habits / ratings.
