- I loved staying at the survival camp with my students. The starry sky was breathtaking, I went make-up free and got into water fights with the kids; I got lots of deep sleep and weird dreams, we made a mosaic floor with big stones, felled trees, roasted sausages and huge marshmallows over the fire.
- Booking plane tickets to Edinburgh and London as well as tickets for the V&A (Frida Kahlo exhibition), First Aid Kit in Brixton and the Harry Potter Studio tour. Can't wait! I still need to find out what to do in Scotland. I'd love to go on a hike through the Highlands and see the coast.
- Visiting my mum for the first time in months. We played indoor and outdoor games (good round of badminton, guys!), there was plenty of vegan food and I got to know my brother's first girlfriend. It's weird, my brother is in a completely different mode around her and she's acting like his cheerleader.
- Also, I got a lot of compliments for my weight loss. People at work are starting to notice it, too.
- Two hikes, one weekend: I spent most of Saturday in the English Garden when I walked from the north to the south end with Fabi, Frank and Claudia (and Lucy the dog). We wanted to visit every single beergarden. It was such a nice day! I discovered places I had never seen before like the barrage, the Isar island in Oberföhring, the obstacle course for horses and so on. We played card games (I'm able to play Schafkopf now!) and made plans to rent a boat and have dinner at the Mini-Hofbräuhaus next time. // On Sunday, I walked from Röhrmoos to Dachau with Lena and Lexi. We stopped at the gorgeous beergarden in the Mariabrunn forest and cooled off with our feet in the Amper river in the afternoon.
- Meeting Becky for pizza and non-stop-talking. It's amazing how hard it is to say goodbye because there is always so much left to say.
- Trying out yoga positions with the students. Showing them how to put your feet behind your head. Doing the "airplane" with Nadine, having Naomi lift me with her legs. Wow!
- The new season of GLOW (especially epidode 8). Getting a taste for old classics like Hall and Oates and having a little Walking in Memphis singalong.
- Having the students write short stories using new vocabulary. Receiving quite some erotic literature. Naughty teenagers...
- Seeing Westpark for the first time! What a beautiful area! I went there with Frank and Claudia to see Entity Theatre's Hamlet performance at Theatron. There were ravens flying over the premises during a dramatic scene. I actually asked Frank if that was a coincidence or if they might have brought them but that would've probably been way over budget.
- Watching my own veggies grow! I've already got one red tomato and a small yellow zucchini.
- Reading a book about Australia. It's mind-blowing how little we know about that surprisingly huge country and, yeah, the outback stories and all those dangerous animals scare the shit out of me. Well, I'm going anyway.
- A very tasty dinner: Eggplant and sweet potato with harissa, pine nuts, coriander and halloumi.
- Having Friday all for myself. I got off work early, went to Prinzregentenbad for a swim and reading (almost falling asleep) in the sun. Then I walked downstairs at the Friedensengel, strolled through Lehel and got a vegetarian rice noodle bowl. I continued walking through Hofgarten and hopped on a train at Odeonsplatz. This should be my new Friday tradition - doing something new each week all by myself.
- Wearing a sleeveless dress. In public. No cardigan. Ha.
- Discovering Piotr Socha's illustration at WortWahl bookstore. His books about trees and bees are so pretty.
- Watching the annual Christopher Street Day parade with Frank and Claudia. The mood was as cheerful as every year and I'm as excited about the glitter and confetti bombs as every year. Amazingly the weather is always gorgeous, too! Someone let me blow their rainbow whistle, another one painted my face with skyblue glitter powder. Afterwards I got my favourite pistachio ice-cream at Viktualienmarkt.
- Harvest Moon coconut yoghurt with mango and maracuja. I wish it was cheaper though...
- A small obsession with Cher. Her voice, her looks (escpecially in the 60s and 70s), her personality and movies - I love Mermaids (1990) and The Witches of Eastwick (1987).
- I love being around friends while we're all doing our own thing.
- I'm a psychic. I said that France would win the football world cup well before the first game. Voilà!
- Planning the best year of your life.
- Realising how much I love my yoga teacher (when we had to work with a substitute one evening). At first I thought she was weird and, well, she probably is, but she has that sensual low voice, I love her singing, she's sassy and kinda sexy.
- Also, I keep noticing how much I miss being touched whenever someone corrects my posture in yoga class. I need to get a massage. Or laid.
- I had bought some fennel at the wholefood shop around the corner because it was 50% off and there I was, having absolutely no idea what to do with it. Until I found this recipe. Mmmmh. I added some feta cheese and substituted the capers with cumin seeds. Delicious.
- Kino, Mond und Sterne - watching Weit. (2017), a movie about two world travellers who started out eastward - no planes allowed. Until they arrived at home from the west, four years later and with their little son. There were tears running down my cheeks throughout the film because it really moved something in me and evoked my wanderlust, a deep longing to see the world. I realised how much there is on this planet that I'll probably never see.
- If Barack Obama were your dad - I'm sure he isn't as flawless as they're trying to depict him but as someone who doesn't have a father anymore... heartwarming.
- Rimski-Korsakow's Flight of the Bumblebee
- My first time at Gärtnerplatztheater - Julia and I had shitty seats but Jesus Christ Superstar was awesome - I especially loved that one dancer with long hair wearing a leather jacket. Easy on the eyes. Also, the religious setting was outplayed by the sheer queerness of the production. Thumbs up! Afterwards: watching the lunar eclipse and sitting at the Isar until the wee hours. And I saw two shooting stars!!! #wishfulthinking
- Travelling to Jena with Kerstin and my students. I loved experimenting at Imaginata and the two shows at the planetarium. When they darkened the room to show the night sky and all the stars popped up I actually had tears in my eyes. And I got lost in the woods. I kept climbing uphill until I reached a spectacular view point. On my way back to the hotel I took a short cut and was suddenly surrounded by fences. It was already after sunset so I needed to get creative to find my way back...
- Our own boat on Kleinhesseloher See! At least for half an hour. I met Lena, Lexi, Yanic and Frank for pistachio ice-cream and a tour with the paddle boat. Afterwards we made up for burnt calories at Mini-Hofbräuhaus. Great Saturday!
- Swimming at Feldmochinger See. Picnic surrounded by old naked people. * Adán sending me a message all the way from Lisbon because someone in his dream reminded him of me.
- My own dreams, about Australia, kidnapping, chasing people, big fish.
- Kerstin, who really listened to me when we were talking on the train. Who offered me an internship at her husband's dental clinic and actually remembered to ask me about the app I recommended to her.
- Shooting stars! Pretty good summer for my wishlist, eh?
- Shopping for wedding presents with Franzi and Martina. Ending up with espadrilles and a plan for personalised embroidery. Drawing a cricket onto a napkin.
- Frozen bananas with pistachios, dark chocolate, mango sorbet and roasted coconut.
- Spending an evening next to a man with circonflexe eyebrows.
- Wearing bright pink lipstick for a fresh and glowy look.
- The first sleeveless summer.
- Music from yoga class: Oliver Shanti's Tai Chi Too and Krishna Das' cover of I Wanna Know What Love Is.
