- Dressing up as Vikings for the Heilung concert at Tollwood. C. looked incredibly handsome with dark eyeshadow and leather arm cuffs. During the concert, he made sure I was ok and kept turning around to kiss me. At one point he even pulled me to the front to stand next to him! We met up with Ansgar, Esmeralda, Eileen and Philo. I ran into Patri, too! I was fascinated by the ritual and the lovely costumes on stage. Afterwards I bought a piercing and a corsage top. When we came home, the starry sky was so clear we could see the Milky Way.
- Running errands with L. Picking him up from daycare. When he hugged me the morning after the concert, almost as if he hadn't been sure if we'd be home in the morning.
- Swimming over to the island in the lake with Sofia. Island expedition. We found nests and huge pieces of eggshell.
- A late night hangout with Tanja and Cos.
- Jumping on the big trampoline. Lying down in the sun, bouncing a little.
- Watching the new cat Bobby make his first discovery run in the garden.
- Making collages. Cutting up art magazines.
- I'm moving in with C.!! I'm so excited! I've never shared an apartment with someone before. But it feels right and I'm looking forward to leaving the big city behind.
- Vietnamese food on my first night in Berlin. A sparkly drink with lime and strawberry syrup.
- My big hotel room. It's more like a suite.
- Warming up in bed after a morning shower. Hiding under the soft, crinkly hotel duvet.
- Feeling like a writer when I saw "die Eingeweide des Croissants" on my breakfast plate.
- The first day of the masterclass Drawing Down the Moon on spiritual and esoteric surrealist art. I loved Emily Hunt's lectures, learning about Ithell Colquhoun, browsing through all the fascinating books and experimenting with automatic techniques.
- I gave the cashier one of my Amaretti Morbidi after she'd started a friendly conversation about them at the checkout.
- Working with metal clay for the first time. I feel a new obsession coming...
- Bella wearing a Spice Girls-as-mermaids T-shirt to class! I asked her if I could take a photo of her boobs (she allowed it).
- Cutting up the most fascinating books for collages: Soviet glass art, paranormal phenomena, an anatomy encyclopedia, cosmology etc.
- Walking to class with Lena in the mornings. She gifted me her witch nail ring and inspired me to order a bag of 90s plastic pacifier charms and Polly Pocket paraphernalia. We had dinner together one night, talked about her 5 of Pentacles tarot draw and went to a daytime rave where I saw the brightest, most radiant rainbow of my life so far. She's a crazy cat lady, too. And reassembles dinosaur bones for a living. Love her.
- Bravely entering a sex shop looking for a harness only to meet the loveliest, most helpful owners. The gentle gays.
- Seeing a meteor shower at the planetarium.
- Watching animal reunion videos.
- An incredible Bánh Mì sandwich with crispy tofu.
- Browsing a used book store. Climbing one of those sliding ladders to reach the art books. Going home with a book on magic and another one on cultivating your inner goddess.
- Blending lilac eyeliner with red lipstick. Being in Berlin / surrounded by so many artists inspires brave eye makeup.
- Walking in shoes that don't hurt my feet. At all.
- Hearing about everyone's artistic process on the last day of masterclass. Finding out that there's a Mormon alphabet. Talking to Anne for the first time (whose art impressed me the most). Learning about Shetland from Alyson.
- Meeting Féj in her beautiful shared apartment. Alcohol-free prosecco on the sofa, talking about our vision for the future. Going out for hand-pulled noodles with chunks of delicious eggplant.
- Having a few hours to explore the contemporary art at Hamburger Bahnhof. Getting a book about Hannah Höch's life, paintings and collages.
- Meeting Gordon on the train to Munich. He has a nerve disease that causes him to twitch and cramp but I told him to just let it happen when he had an episode. He said he felt very comfortable with me and I noticed I could feel his tension and relaxation in my own body. Perhaps I should really become a therapist then... We talked about burns and finances, sex work and our favourite perfumes.
- C. picked me up from the station and we shared a plate of Greek delicacies at the beer garden before going home. I loved touching him and telling him about my exciting time in Berlin.
- Building a garden bench using wooden pallets.
- Making a wok full of delicious Asian veggie noodles. Recreating the chunky, marinated, spicy eggplant I had in Berlin. Compliments for my restaurant-level cooking.
- Hanna treated me to a massage on the water bed after physio therapy.
- Bringing my first pieces of furniture to C.'s apartment. Setting up my spice rack and the two night stands.
- Baking Rose Bakery's famous lemon cake with poppy seeds and blueberries.
- Silly nostalgia buys: a Polly Pocket set I used to own as a kid. And a bag full of plastic pacifier charms.
- Decorating the terrace. Painting the garden furniture.
- That one Monday, when things just fell into place: I had a very positive experience with a doctor, met Vroni and showed her my apartment - she might rent it! So uncomplicated!! And C. talked to his neighbours about me moving in.
- Iltis Burn 2025: fun with Tina, Kerem and Becki / my first little DJ session at Hexenbar (my most unconventional choices were crowd-pleasers!) / lots of romantic attention from C. / feeling energized and talkative / a quiet welfare shift spent journalling / a dive in the ball pool with C. and K. / one of the best things I ever brought to a Burn: Wellington boots. I was so happy about them. It was raining constantly. / grocery shopping with Gregor and C. //
- Bohren & Der Club of Gore - "doom-ridden jazz music". Perfect for my noise-cancelling headphones to filter out the outside world.
- More baking experiments: upside down orange cake with polenta and ricotta. And I added a few recipes to my handwritten recipe book. Feels wholesome.
- A private wax-casting workshop with Isabella. I learned a lot! And mide a weird nail ring. Like a bejewelled claw for the last finger joint... I also flipped through her amazing art book "Visionen des Unwirklichen. Die phantastischen Bilder des Karel Thol" - but it seems to be out of print. Sad.
- I made the bathroom look really cozy and practical. Like a boho jungle paradise. And I put all my weird, magical books next to each other on the shelf. I love my growing collection!
