  • He touched my face!!
  • And writes appreciative thank-you notes on top of a box of chocolates.
  • Boxer braids.
  • "Danke, dass du so lieb zu mir bist." - "Wenn ich schon zu mir selber nicht lieb bin muss ich das ja irgendwo hin kanalisieren." / and a whole arm full of tulips from Becky.
  • Actually getting stuff done on a Saturday. Party-free weekends do wonders for productivity-levels.
  • Baking pink macarons with white chocolate ganache and poppy seeds. Listening to the Chocolat OST. Sunshine.
  • An epic sex dream about HIM during a Sunday afternoon nap. On the verge to lucid dreaming, too!
  • Seeing the Symphonic Orchestra at Gasteig again. And strong, cheap cocktails at Café Haidhausen.
  • Celebrating Anja's last exam at the Harras Burger House with Basti, Hermann, Kathi H. and Becky. They're insane. It was hilarious. On our way home we squeezed into Kathi's Suzuki Swift and quoted Loriot all the time.
  • Sending virtual and actual food porn to HIM.
  • 10 great woman cartoonists
  • Frank was vacuum cleaning while I cooked Thai curry for us and the last thing he did before he turned it off was vacuuming my feet! It tickled and I had to laugh anyway because of how seriously he took his cleaning duty.
  • The hard training pays off: one of my students got me a box of Raffaellos this week. Just because.
  • I have to emphasise again how much I ship Jessa and Adam.
  • Getting this crazy week behind me. I spent 14 hours at school on Thursday. My feet hurt like hell and I can't stand all that noise anymore.
  • Friday lunch trip with Becky to the kebab place in Neuried.
  • A box of special markers in pastel and neon colours. White pens are the BEST.
  • Instant mashed potatoes.
  • It seems like my body has finally caved in to constant sleep deprivation and works more or less fine on 5hours of sleep every night. I can save so much time now!!
  • Drinking with Claudia and Frank. Winning at our special edition of Stadt, Land, Fluss (of course). Drawing up a board of Mensch ärgere dich nicht and Malefiz.
  • Eva Schulz's new podcast.
  • On writing.
  • I keep finding googly eyes everywhere since I accidentally emptied a box of them in my bag. Could be worse though. People already know I'm quirky anyway.
  • Rodarte for otherstories is happening!!
  • Judd Apatow's new series, Love <3 The opening credits are great, I can't wait until they release the soundtrack in April.
  • The Two Dots app game. Highly addictive. Also the first phone game I've ever paid money for.
  • The Parov Stelar concert, dancing with my colleagues at Beach38 (in the SAND without our shoes but with quite a few delicious cocktails instead), hanging out with Claudia and Frank, Lena and Matthias.
  • Frank was super nice to me that night. I was sleepy and anxious because of my solo trip to the US. He let me use his leg as a pillow, talked to me in the dark to calm me down and even kissed my hair. I slept over because I didn't want to be alone and we fell asleep holding hands. He said that he was so sorry for me because I never feel truly happy. Which made me sad. Just because he's right. Before I left, we shared long hugs, beard and nose kisses and waved goodbye. I need treatment like this sometimes. So thanks!
  • Getting compliments for my new pink suitcase at the airport. Passing the visa interview. Sleeping through most of my second flight. Shlee and Kilian picked me up and we had burgers and truffle fries. So good. Everyone was at the Petersons' house and I hugged everyone hello. I felt very much at home with Virginia and Marc. Two days later, Holly and Ekhi arrived from Seattle, I couldn't have asked for better temporary sisters. And oh, the pets! Lily, Rosie, Daphne and Jack Jack... Jolene and Max the cat. Not hard to tell who my favourite was though - I lost my heart to Jacky! I never thought I'd fall for a dog one day.
  • Having my meal taken care of at Chipotle because it was my first time there! Also: yum! I can't resist ordering burritos the size of my head. And the chips and guac are top notch!
  • Being the first one to get your food when you order a special meal (e.g. vegetarian) on the plane.
  • Having Virginia's oatmeal with pecans and blueberries for breakfast. Watching the squirrels in the backyard.
  • SALT&STRAW ice cream is the best I've ever had. I wanna die in a tub of Lemon Amaretto Sherbet.
  • I had a blast at NW 23rd street, the "hipster" part of Portland. I could have spent thousands of dollars at the Paper Source store. I'm a sucker for that kind of hipster culture. I really need to rewatch Portlandia now. The (Victorian style) houses are simply adorable. I wanna move in.
  • A whole bunch of cilantro is only 49ct at the Asian Food Market.
  • Creative number plates: 1DGAF / DNT WRY
  • Petting a huge lizard.
  • Spending an afternoon with Marc and Holly at a NYC-style Jewish diner and taking photos with Holly at a classic black and white photobooth in Ace Hotel. It was so much fun. Afterwards they introduced me to the magic of Powell's Bookstore. Apparently the largest bookstore in the Western hemisphere. And I shouldn't forget to mention Stumptown Coffee - delicious!
  • Portland street art.
  • Going wild in Sephora.
  • A roadtrip to the Northern Pacific with Shlee, Kil and Daphne. We went to Astoria and Seaside, ran away from the ocean, bought Saltwater Taffy and sang Candy Man. I also loved the mermaid costumes at the gipsy store in Astoria.
  • Pizza at Life of Pie.
  • Spending time at the Lan Su Chinese garden. I especially liked the Chinese Fortune Sticks! (I got number 2, obviously) Also, the fact that pretty much everything is in bloom in Portland even though (or because?) it's raining all the time.
  • My Easter basket from Virginia!
  • Making dirty pictures with fridge magnets.
  • When my eyes look really green in the bathroom mirror.
  • Eating leftovers in bed (chips and guacamole, hummus, lemon meringue cheesecake)
  • A night out with Ekhi, Nathan and his husband Paul at the gay bar (CC Slaughters) - we had an amazing time with $2 cocktail happy hour and Nathan acting as our buffer zone (well, the only straight dudes managed to single us out and they were GROSS). I LOVE Nathan and Paul. I wish I could have taken them home with me.
  • Ekhi: "Per-DONE?!"
  • Spending time with Ekhi in the kitchen in the middle of the night.
  • The best meals I had in the US were salads (guacamole with tortilla fritters / pickled rhubarb and strawberries on spinach) with dirty mashed potatoes as a side dish.
  • Seeing Zootopia at the cinema! SUCH a cute movie.
  • Renting a karaoke box with Jilian, Gabe, Shlee, Nathan and Kilian. Oh boy, these guys are amazing singers. I felt pretty bad. But still, my 99 Luftballons conquered America!! It was so nice that you could log in the Voice Box website and leave comments on the karaoke screen as well as search for your next song online.
  • I also loved listenening to some highly untypical songs in the US: Ex's and Oh's by Elle King, Try Everything by Shakira, Love Yourself by Justin Bieber (!), Ship to Wreck by Florence and the Machine, Hard Out Here by Lily Allen, Uptown Funk by Marc Ronson, Funky Cold Medina by Tone-Loc, Hide Away by Daya, Stitches by Shawn Mendes and You Don't Own Me by Grace.
