March was all about mentally vanishing from the face of Earth. Escaping from the rules, routines, problems. Pretending not to be there. Not to be responsible. Feeling was more important than doing. Disclaimer: I'm not cut out for this extreme either. Doing it all, doing nothing at all - I need to find the balance inbetween.
- Making the vegan chocolate orange cake from Eat this again.
- I started a mosaic project! I was hoping to get a new bathroom vanity unit when I thought... wouldn't that be the perfect opportunity to put all the mosaic tiles I have to good use? Now I'm trying my hand at upcycling. Let's see how it goes. EDIT: Only finished like a quarter but I decided to put it back to the bathroom. Will I ever finish it?
- Eating goat cheese cream with my finger directly from the box.
- A good back crack.
- The thin crescent moon. My favourite. Especially when it's still low in the sky and looks all big and yellow.
- The peaceful moments I get after Hanna is finished with me at physiotherapy. I usually see monsters and faces in the concrete ceiling and last time they even played Lou Reed's Perfect Day! A good song.
- Grounding.
- New shimmery nail polish. Lilac with a hint of blue shine.
- Watching trippy documentaries about the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I'm still looking for an ancient MTV Masters episode about the band. Man, there were so many amazing MTV shows, right? Room Raiders, Cribs, Pimp my Ride, Next...
- A new word: undulating.
- Feeling like a baby when the old Thai lady covered me with a warm blanket and started massaging me until YaYah was there.
- A mild obsession with water bottles for pet cages. Thinking about building one for me with cherry-flavoured water.
- Erin's Valley Girl @high school video.
- I had sour Haribo cola bottles the other day and couldn't stop thinking about the line from a Bloc Party song: "Like eating glass, like drinking poison" - isn't that basically what I'd just done? Eating (gummy) glass, drinking (gummy) poison?
- You see so much from a bus window. A man coming out of an antique store secretly exchanging his toupet for a hat. He quickly pushed the hair into his jacket pocket hoping nobody would notice.
- Watching Licorice Pizza at the cinema with Lena and Sash. The movie has a pretty nice soundtrack. Let me roll it to you!
- My VHS English class, coming up with fun exercises (like describing awkward family photos while their partner had to try to draw the image or creating fake Tinder profiles for a round of Speed Dating), flowers from parents. Raphael picking me up; walking through the park, having ice-cream.
- I had to give a lesson for class 10D and was pretty successful with my Speaking Test activities there as well. And I saw lots of former students - Rosa has become SO pretty. Ermira and Caprice are still in my team - and I spoke Spanish with Yolanda! I really miss the older students...
- A secret message from my ninth house: "Travel with risk and adventure." (OMG I'm so overwhelmed and scared when I think of my upcoming sabbatical)
- Shopping for art supplies with Doris. Getting a special rainbow pencil for myself (special because it had pink in it). Doris getting me ceramic glaze and Paulaner Spezi. Asking for advice about Mexico. Sending messages - in Spanish! She has been suspiciously nice to me lately.
- A good therapy session. Getting an idea of what might be wrong with me.
- Trying to get my life back on track. Calling in sick to catch up with all the stuff I hadn't managed to do in the last weeks. I desperately need a change.
- The two ladies who applied as choir leaders for our gospel choir. Great personalities and both very passionate. Clementina is a tiny Argentinian curly girl with so much energy. I'm looking forward to working with her more.
- Booking an overpriced flight to Seoul. Just because I know that I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I spent another vacation at home. I desperately need a change of scenery.
