  • Benjamin Britten's Guide to the Opera for Young People in the movie Moonrise Kingdom (Purcell's theme is beautiful).
  • Sitting in cinema, buying Kinderriegel for all the others, watching the people next to me secretly holding hands, fake-flirting.
  • Watching the last thirty minutes of Breakfast at Tiffany's with my Mum.
  • So much luck at the thrift store! I bought a winter coat, two skirts, two blouses, a hat, many (English!) books, two tea cups, a bowl, two spoons, a VHS and many many LPs for less than 40€.
  • A long evening of playing Risk (of course I was the Red Army).
  • Witnessing a secret kiss in the rain and being superexcited about it (causing long talks until 3am).
  • Videochat with Marita (showing off our respective pets - a blind rabbit and an obese cat). And talking to Lena at 2am, discussing all the important new things and making plans for New Year's Eve.
  • Being told to be "the cutest friend they have".
  • Being an extremely good sport and leaving early. Private detective Catherine off duty.
  • Plans to form a literary circle with Harry and Benni. A weird, unexpected (smelly and illegal) gift.
  • My English literature exam prep seminar. It makes me feel incredibly smart, talking about all that.
  • Stretching the opening hours at Kaufland with Marita. Buying half a dozen tights and many yummy things.
  • Adopting Marita as a "sister", looking at each other's baby photos, talking about secrets and spiritual beliefs, solving problems together. Partying, cooking, watching tv. And her reaction about my Mum's decision to abandon our rabbit Hoppel in the woods (many years ago).
  • BOOTS. Black leather boots. This is awesome because my calves are so enormous I never manage to close the zipper on boots.
  • Vanilla pudding. I could take a bath in it. Yum!
  • Cute compliments: "Du hast übrigens ganz toll ausgeschaut bei Sabine. Wo du dich hingesetzt hast und den Kopf irgendwie kurz hin und her geworfen hast dachte ich nur so "Haare"!!" / "Du bist die niedlichste Freundin, die ich habe" / and I was called gifted twice in one week. People recommend more fancy and smart job options to me all the time.
  • Coffee with Michaela (who told me about her new 42 year old manfriend).
  • Fried Asia noodles; truffle mascarpone cappelletti.
  • Boyfriend puts his computer mouse on me and continues browsing the internet. "I'm not your mousepad!" - "But like this I can stroke you and use my mouse at the same time, I've tried it on a cat and it works!"
  • Banana cinnamon porridge. I could BATHE in it.
  • Eating something without getting severe stomach cramps immediately (gall bladder inflammation, I suppose. Ouch. Anyway, grainy bread with cheese and tomato seems to be alright).
  • Fake Ugg Boots. MEGAembarrassing, I know. But I wanted really warm shoes for around the house. Please shoot me if I ever wear these in public! Related: two snuggly new pyjama bottoms.
  • Visiting a pet sanctuary in Austria. CUTE ANIMALS, thankyouverymuch. So many cats. Petting large bulls and donkeys. We had a really lovely afternoon and even took analogue photos.
  • Dyeing Marita's hair blonde and mine black.
  • I bought myself an Alnatura advent calendar in a tote bag - every day you may put your hand in there and pick something without looking.
  • The Christmas fair at the Waldorf kindergarten. Nice toys, great food and the cutest kid in the history of children (white-ish puffy hair and huge puffy cheeks - he tried to cut paper with both hands).
  • Pumpkin quiche. So amazingly good! I added potatoes and feta cheese as well as roasted pine nuts and fresh parsley. Mmmh!
