  • Homemade Griesnockerl (semolina dumplings) soup. THE BEST.
  • Talking on the phone with Miss Lexi for more than three hours. Laughing so much it hurts and learning some Russian words (Russian is super difficult, but oh my, it's hilarious if you're trying to pronounce five consonants in a row). So, learning the Cyrillic alphabet is my homework for now...
  • Update: Woohoo! I can read Russian now! Still in baby speed, but hey! Best thing: in the new Ikea catalogue there was a photo of a bookshelf. One of the books was Russian and I could read the title! Historia Anglii!
  • Reading the new Ikea catalogue on the couch, under fairy lights, while listening to my boyfriend preparing dinner for me in the kitchen. So cosy. And especially good after not eating the whole day long.
  • Strangely, working in an office for nine hours straight. It's just SO much more productive than sitting on your own desk at home (you know - oh, I need to vacuum clean RIGHT NOW! And I need to take out the trash, do my nails, sew a skirt...)
  • Gel eyeliner
  • Presents from Riga: a little amber pendant and Moomin candy
  • Attending the local pub quiz, after quite some time, and making 2nd place, yay! We won 60€.
  • Making a skirt out of a dress
  • MTV's Awkward (did I already mention this one last month?!)
  • Cosy tights
  • Leibniz Country Cookies
  • Reunion with my fluffy cats
  • Driving my car along the coastline in Southern France: Saint Tropez, Sainte Maxime, Les Issambres, Fréjus and then "La Provencale" - Cannes, Antibes, Nice, Monaco, all the way to Italy. And holding my hand out the window, feeling the air flowing, crashing against my skin.
  • Falling in love, falling out of love, and falling in love again. I missed this exciting feeling, it's empowering, like anything is possible.
  • Long talks in the middle of the night on the porch of our house in France. Full moon, clear sky and you know exactly where the sea is, even if you can't quite see it at night.
  • Snorkeling. I found a little octopus on the sea bottom, we played with each other and "shook hands". I also saw huge schools of fish and all kinds of curious objects.
  • "Munchkin" threesomes
  • French food. Quenelles, chocolate tartes with a soft core, Crème Brûlée, Flan aux oeufs, vanilla ice cream with salted caramel (!!!) and roasted almonds, fresh figs, chèvre, taboulé, hummus, some soy dish with eggplant, all the nice salads with walnut oil (...)
  • 10 days of brilliant sunshine and 30°C. (only to return to Germany shaken by apocalyptical rain and under 10°C. I want to go back)
  • Thinking about moving to France for one semester.
  • Jennifer Egan: "A Visit from the Goon Squad"
  • French pop music from the 60s and mixtapes from my friends
  • Buying new trainers. And ridiculous shoelaces. They're super-gangsta and I love them, no matter what u think. Yes yes. Very comfy, too!
  • French men calling me "magnifique", merci beaucoup. Oh, and: speaking French with people who were actually understanding me. And, most of the time, I understood them too. So good!
  • Suntan!
  • A boat roundtrip in Saint Tropez (checking out all the celebrity beaches - "bitches" as the French pronounce it, such fun!)
  • Masculine arms. Hugging you, just touching your shoulders, lying in them, leaning against each other. Stuff like that.
  • Finally finally finally buying a light blue blouse.
  • Feather-like fake eyelashes. And the fact that there is such a thing as "butterfly kissies".
  • Checking out "Leckerschen" and "Liebschen" in traffic jams. Generally talking like a complete idiot all the time in all the accents and dialects I know.
  • Photobombing other people.
  • The National's "High Violet". I kinda disliked it all the time. But then I surrendered; I let a friend drive my car over the Alps when returning from France. It was starting to get dark, I felt weak and tired, I tried to fall asleep, I felt the motions of the car, closed my eyes and then this album. Thank you, little iPod on random. It was perfect. All my sadness and sleepiness in a song.
  • Ricotta
  • Buying a copy of American Apparel's Circle Scarf. For 7€. In yer face.
  • Mini confection of Mozart balls... could only be more amazing if there's be a real pistache inside
  • Still, Aldi's Caesar Salad. I'm an addict.
  • Monsieur Omar's veggie doener. Nom.
  • Lying in a train cabin on my way to Venice; listening to some music, trying to sleep, enjoying the sunshine and Italian alps. So peaceful.
  • Venice Biennale - I liked the German, British and Swiss pavillon as well as the "Illuminations" exhibition and some stuff at the Arsenale.
  • Sitting at a canal or by the sea, having ice cream, sunshine in my face. Having mojitos in a small alley with lots of people, being really drunk (the funny kind of drunk) and marvelling at the laid-back way Italians deal with annoyances. Chatting up random Englishmen.
  • Seeing the truth behind people's masks.
  • The carpenter's cat in Venice near Rio Marin.
  • Singing the trashiest songs we knew on our train journey home from Italy.
