- I was grudgingly putting an expensive box of blueberries into my cart when a sales assistant appeared and reduced all berries by 50%!
- Making plans and setting amazing goals. So motivating!
- Not being so fucking hungry all the time. Ever since I've broken my sugar addiction it's such a joy to eat food because the cravings are gone. I can actually walk past a bakery and say NO. I eat breakfast and it satifies me for such a long time.
- Eating a ripe passionfruit comes close to a religious experience. Woah. Seriously, this is my favourite time to buy fresh produce at the supermarket: figs, all kinds of berries, pumpkins, juicy peaches, apples... the list goes on and on.
- I won a bicycle seat cover at the ARTE Karambolage "devinette". I didn't expect that! Why is that great? Because I actually needed a seat cover and was on the verge of buying one on eBay.
- FINALLY working on my thesis. And actually getting more stuff done than expected. YAY FOR LIBRARIES. But you know, of course I was so mentally challenged I had to chillax on the sofa for two weeks before this breakthrough. It just feels so good to, well, NOT feel guilty anymore for not doing and and actually not being so scared that I might not make the deadline etc.
- Ok, Friday night(14th) was pretty great. I got to outlive all those things I rarely did when I was younger (and supposed to do stuff like that?). We went to the fair by bus and had beer, gyros, we shot roses (I'm not very talented but I wanted to do that for such a long time), watched people acting drunk, danced on the benches, got thrown out by the security guys etc. There even was a cute brewer guy at the beer station with whom we went out later: we went to "Scala", a club I never really knew existed in our sleepy little town. Fancy with guys in suits and doormen and all. So, at 24 I had my first real club experience? And for fuck's sake - I DANCED (as long as they played 90s hits). I'm super awkward about dancing but it was great. I watched a friend of ours acting like a gay magnet and everything. Later we walked home (uhm, 1hour walk?), stopped at Burger King and came home at like 5 or 6am. As great as it was, I couldn't do it every weekend, but one in a while...
- Meeting Marita and all her lovely weird friends.
- Friday was pretty great in general. Waking up next to a lovehungry boyfriend and having a breakthrough (?) while writing my thesis. Well, at least getting a bit of stuff done, which is pretty good for me!
- Saturday - feeling all happy and cosy, sleeping in. Autumn crept in, hasn't it?
- I attended an Indian evening and when I came in they were chanting the Hare Krishna mantra... At first I was a bit creeped out but the Indian dancer with her fascinating mudras was amazing and I loved the food. Now that stupid mantra is stuck in my head.
- Long phone calls with Monica. Sharing saucy details from our (mainly her) past.
- Losing weight (ever so slowly - my foot is still injured and I can't do as much exercise as I should).
- A miracle happened, I don't know how I deserved so much good karma: one VERY important book for my thesis got lost in the library and by pure chance I walked past a random shelf and found it!!
- Cheese from the eco store for dinner. Blueberry cheese, brie with pumpkin seeds, ginger and sesame goat cheese and some cheese with chestnuts.
- Oh, almond milk. I had some in Italy two years ago and it was disgusting, much too sweet. But if you find the right kind it tastes like marzipan(without all the calories).
- A breakthrough: for the first time ever I could write an (easy) passage of my thesis WHILE LISTENING TO MUSIC. Usually I can really only on one thing at once. But yeah, as soon as I have to read and quote from books at the same time: bye bye iTunes.
- Getting stuff done I put off for days. Before 9am. Yay me.
- Fiona Apple's The Idler Wheel (whenever I burn a CD for the car I know it by heart in next to no time).
- British comedy. Stella, Gavin and Stacey and Bad Education. Oh and I can't wait for Miranda season 3!
- Applying a ton of sequin nailpolish to my toe nails.
- A serious conversation with my boyfriend about straight male fashion designers.
- Sitting at my desk, lighting a candle, drinking spicy winter tea and reading Peter Mendelsund's great essay Picturing Books.
- Lying in bed, reading Eugenides' The Marriage Plot and writing idead on my hand.
- The soft, hairy, velvety texture of raspberries.
- Making travel plans! It's always so exciting. Vienna in October, London and Wales in November. YES!
- Songs which include the Hare Krishna Mantra. Nina Hagen's I Love Paul and George Harrison's My Sweet Lord.
- Finally new seasons of my favourite tv shows. Summer break was long...
- Something I've never seen before: dark pink, purple and orange sky after sunset and a rainbow so late in the day. Wow.
- An early end-of-thesis celebration dinner with Marita, Miri, Ramona and the manfriend. Such fun! Raspberry panna cotta and pizza didn't hurt either. They even brought little presents for me: lipgloss in a tiny cupcake jar and a candy cane!
- Reading so many books. Jeffrey Eugenides' The Marriage Plot is great so far!
- Serious cuddle time with the manfriend on Saturday morning. Warming my ice cold feet under his blankie.
- And: wearing his perfume!!
- H A N D I N G I N M Y T H E S I S (thank goodness it's over now)
