- Panaderías (bakeries): Pastelillos de Guayaba (guava puff pastry), Quesitos (cream cheese pastry), PR-style sandwich (smashed like a cuban or panini),
- empanadillas/empanadas/pastelillos [same thing] and bacalaítos being my fav), smoked/grilled chicken or Pinchos (kebabs), fresh fruit (good star fruit is cheap and 100x better than what you get stateside), fruit frappes (with sometimes delicious wackier flavors like Snickers), and shaved ice cones — "Piraguas" (#TamarindForLife)
- Lechoneras. Not much to say, except these should definitely be dingy. All good lechoneras have several old men drinking Medallas at all times
- avoid el Jibarito
- Cafe Manolin -- good but closes at 4 pm
- Arecibo Observatory and the Camuy Caverns

- Markets: La Placita during daytime hours (during nighttime it's a party area), and la plaza del mercado de rio piedras. On Saturdays, La Plaza del Mercado in Old San Juan.
- Food: Must try lechón, quesitos, pastelillos de guayaba, arroz con gandules, mofongo, yuca empanadas, a pr-style sandwich, and empanadas. In San German check out Kings Cream (Los Chinos)
