- Organize time commitments into 3 categories
- Fixed time commitments
- sleep
- classes
- eating/meals, etc
- Flexible time commitments
- Recreational time
- Allot time for planned recreation, club activities, etc.
- LEAVE UNSCHEDULED TIME FOR FLEXIBILITY
- this is where most schedules fail
- Schedule weekly reviews, separate from "study" time
- devote at least 1 hour per class
- How much time? Take into account:
- prep before class (readings)
- review after class
- homework/exercises
- labs
- tutorials
- Use "blocks" of study time
- like going to work, predictable hours
- ideally, are immediately before or after the relevant class
- USE the time between classes!
- Specify WHAT to study in your schedule - be clear
- Break up study sessions
- no more than 1.5 hours on one course
- include relaxation breaks, stretch, etc.
