- eat local food
- drink local spirits
- take lots of photos (not just posing, but sitting in the car, waking up in the hotel, etc)
- plan your holiday around a book / film that takes place in your destination (like Rome - Angels and Demons). Visit the places mentioned / seen.
- visit local art exhibitions
- find the ugliest postcard in town. You can make this into a contest, too.
