Suprasocietalism:

  • The disentangling of the self from imposed identities, and from the institutionalised values which they promote.
  • The 'divine' is just the unknown.
  • Some brains aspire to be leaders, others desire to follow. But we are not like them. We simply want to be free.

Old Ideas:

  • Supra - beyond the limits of + societal - suprasocietalism is to exist beyond the limits of society.
  • The distancing of oneself from identities which relate to nationality, religion or political parties, in order to form a more authentic social, spiritual and philosophical understanding of what it means to be human.
  • The idea being that these institutions, which have stood for many centuries, are predominantly negative owing to the fact that they attempt to regulate human experience. There is a heavy emphasis on shared values, moral codes and rules about what you can and cannot do, which prevents and even punishes people whose values are not ‘in line’ with the rest of the group.
  • Each child is born with guiding principles. An innate sense of what is right to them. As a set of values, these are unique to every person. Socialisation, which is often greatly influenced by the institutions listed above, erodes these core values. This is not always a bad thing. It allows people to function in society, and, often, to respect others. However, it also contributes to shame and self-hate when individuals struggle to align themselves with the ‘accepted’ values.
  • Suprasocietalism encourages me to be anti-religious, to place no value in nation, to not support political parties and to always prioritise individual freedom above economic considerations. It teaches me not to trust any of these large-scale institutions, as my authenticity is worth way too much for me to place trust in such feeble establishments.
  • Large-scale institutions are responsible for system enforcement and the promotion of 'institutionalised' values.
  • Institutionalised values are not real. Ever. This is absolutely not to say that those belonging to institutions do not live by these values in a real and authentic way. Many religious people do live peacefully, and they may feel encouraged to do so by their faith. I am in no way trying to dismiss this when it comes to the lifestyles of individuals within institutions. I'm just saying it's very dangerous for a religion or nation or political party to claim that it believes in/promotes 'peace', when so many sub-sections within that institution don't live peacefully at all, or use religious/political 'peace' as a means by which to attack those who have different lifestyles and views.
  • System enforcement should be pushed against and eroded where possible. Human capacity should not be measured in time. This is not how people work. This is how systems work. People are not systems. Human capacity is based on energy and interest. For some people it is more one than the other.
  • The belief that humans can and should live over and above what is designated by the society in which they live.
  • Living alongside society so as to best facilitate your own freedom, whilst not becoming trapped within a system which does not protect your best interests.
  • Refusing to accept state-sanctioned facts as verbatim.
  • Pure pacifism.
  • Constant openness to curiosity and creativity.
  • Total freedom of individuality, respecting the above.
  • Engaging with infrastructure only when it is useful to you, or required in order to prevent hardship.
  • Participating within a community only when it brings joy.
  • Recognising that 'society' is almost entirely corrupt, but that humanity is too expansive for it to be overcome. Therefore, finding ways to create your own freedom, using society only when it is actually of value to you.
  • Preventing your own life from becoming systematic. Demand variety from yourself and the way in which you live your life.
