As you can see, we tend to lean towards single-player arcade and arcade-style games that are very action-intensive and high-difficulty, and which require a particualr state of mind to really enjoy.

We played Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels to the bitter end when we were 12, and loved it. And beatmania IIDX was the second ever rhythm game that we committed to, when we were 14. That probably explains some things about the way we approach games.
