- started the year off amazingly with a NYE party and bar hopping with good friends
- rekindled a lot of relationships from my past (stacey, jill, lauren c.)
- deepened a lot of new relationships (denueve, kadeem, chris)
- lost someone as a friend & yet they're still a "friend"
- completed two major art projects that added a lot of fodder to my portfolio
- took a class with an amazing professor who helped me understand art as a form of communication and a personal imprint not just a mindless kitschy, tumblr post of jewelry organized neatly. yet my full understanding of art is in the beginner stages [see development of design below]
- had my artwork published in my college's art magazine
- graduated from college cum laude
- finally left muhlenberg college behind, both mentally and physically
- much of my college "free time" (ie not in class) was spent either in the library working papers or on tumblr
- good times and memories created with my finals week crew (chris, tali, & the occasional sorority member) of going absolutely insane/high on coffee, bothering adam at the front desk in the library, not sleeping, wawa runs at 2am, and sleeping through 8am alarms to get back to work
- spent a good amount of my time in the art department becoming closer to a lot of profs and the amazing secretary
- the 2012 summer olympics became a highlight of my summer
- which also increased my absolute love of olympic swimmers, definitely part of that fandom
- watched a lot of netflix
- took part in a keg crawl
- enrolled in continuing education classes at the School of Visual Arts and Fashion Institute of Technology for a certificate in graphic design
- cut off the relaxer in my hair & went completely natural, no perm, no straightening, just big curly hair.
- embraced having curly hair & short hair (at the same time)
- dyed my hair for the first time (& surprisingly my hair was not dry)
- spent many a night at woody's gorging on their chips & salsa and pizza
- turned 22 and was given the complete japanese edition of the miyazaki collection (up until 1998) as an amazing birthday gift
- went to many live shows including an amazing two show weekend featuring bigbang
- went to my first "counter-cultural" black-culture inspired music festival known as the afro-punk festival in brooklyn
- where i also saw pharrell williams in person
- instilled a drive within myself to become successful in my field of work
- landed my first job that paid more than minimum wage
- worked two design internships at a time
- though i did not have the chance to travel anywhere, my desire to go to certain places has increased tremendously, so much that i'm actively planning trips to asia, europe, and the west coast for 2013/2014. i figure if i go to cali, might as well get on a plane for a few more hours to korea/japan.
- tried a lot of different kinds of food including ramen, korean, filipino, and nepalese
- developed an appreciation for design but still developing an understanding of it's full scope
- began and ended an obsession with words with friends
- began and continue to this day an obsession with flow free
- went on many but ultimately unsuccessful dates (and 3 actually became boyf-ish things but not rly...)
- discovered a fandom and musical genre that have had a positive inspirational impact on my life
- developed a strong interest in korean pop culture
- updated my wardrobe to include more professional outfits
- became the chapter advisor of my sorority as well as the junior graphic designer for our national magazine
- finished most (except for three) of my 2012 new years resolutions
