- January 1: Perfect brunch at a friend's surrounded by wonderful people, good food, and video game silliness. Also, set up saltwater aquarium
- January 5: Book club at Glass Nickel. Not many people made it out, but the few that came did their best to make it through salad, pizza, wine, red velvet cake, and literary conversation. On to the next book!
- January 10: Family birthday party in Madison. Finally got to check out the Space place
- January 16: Got a new dishwasher. This is how I know I am a grown-up: I get excited about a dishwasher.
- January 17: birthday party at Samba, Houses in Motion at High Noon. Rainbow cake and good friends and too much food!
- January 18: I turn 29. I don't understand why so much emphasis is put on your age as you get older. I am not embarrassed to be 29. I think I will enjoy it
- January 20: New president! He's intelligent! He's articulate! I'm still awed that my country elected a black man. We're making progress, and I'm so proud of my fellow Americans for finally moving forward
- January 23: Went through a whopping 50 pounds of clay during JC Wright's Make a Difference Day. We made lots of lovely bowls to give to the Humane Society to sell(Human Society according to some confused children.)
- January 24: Fanny pack party at Andy's. Even though Eli and I could not find fanny packs, we highly enjoyed everyone else's. The contest where people emptied their belt bags for prizes was brilliant. I've got my fingers crossed that this often maligned fashion item makes a comeback.
- January 25: The day began with soap making at Belinda's, which left me smelling fresher and cleaner than I actually was. Than onto Dr. Sketchy's at the High Noon. I hadn't made art for myself in ages. I even won a couple of contests! Caffeine+ art making+ good people= perfect Sunday afternoon
- January 26:Began 2nd semester at my new school. Unlike when I started first semester (3 weeks late), this semester has gone unbelievably smooth so far. No name calling or nasty notes left for me to find. Awesome.
- January 30: Book club at Natt Spiel. Small, but fun!
- January 31: Orchid show. I limited myself to 4, and am even giving 2 to other people. Just being surrounded by that many plants was enough to brighten my day.
