- January 2, 2017: Thankful for the many years of love and memories our little Holland lop, Lucky, gave to us. Rest in peace, little guy! Love you and miss you so much!
- January 6, 2017: Gary salvaged the set of bedroom drawers that was built in to the beige trailer on the Maryland farm, and he used some paneling to put new sides on them and make them into a chest of drawers/dresser. They also brought home a hand-cranked meat grinder!
- January 8, 2107: My first attempt at homemade 15 bean soup was a success! This recipe is definitely a keeper! Accompanied by cornbread that Bernadine made and sent home with Gary. I made a chocolate fudge cake with chocolate fudge icing for dessert tonight, planning to surprise Gary. My 1st cake of 2017! Also thankful for those few fleeting moments of normal, when I was so lost in the moment that I wasn't stressing out over anything.
- January 10, 2017: Thought the dishwasher was broken; it wasn't. Didn't take time to pre-rinse and most dishes still came clean!
- January 11, 2017: Little Caesars brought their Loaded Crazy Bread Bites back for $5! So happy! :) Also thankful for the 51 degree weather that has melted the snow, making tonight's trip to prayer meeting look a lot less daunting!
- January 12, 2017: I was able to save the tree stumps that looked like the two trees had grown together. I want to use them to make a couple of items. I'm thinking a centerpiece and, maybe, a small end table. Later, I spotted a kitchen drawer filled with mason jars from the white trailer in the old van. Also, I brought the ceramic eagle figurine in from the mini-barn, and, while I was out there, I found my boxed set of "Little House on the Prairie" books, a Christmas Furby, a set of frog/turtle candles, a couple of special plaques, a painting I'd nearly forgotten about, and an old carrying case.
- January 13, 2017: Grateful that I finally got a rotisserie turkey breast sandwich on wheat with lettuce, tomato, and salad dressing. Equally thankful for the hot, homemade meatloaf now baking in the oven on a cold winter night. Yummy!
- January 14, 2017: Cleaning the living room in one afternoon. A hot cup of coffee with peppermint mocha creamer on a cold, rainy day. Getting our health insurance bill in the mail and on time this month. Finding something fun to photograph for today's photo entry on my journal.
- January 17, 2017: Very thankful for the years of love and memories given to us by Rosetta, our white guinea pig with pink eyes and rosettes in her fur. Rest in peace sweetheart. We love you and miss you so much! P.S. Don't worry. We'll give Butterscotch lots of tender, loving care. We'll do our best to make sure she's not too lonely.
- January 22, 2017: Important forms were waiting in the church office this morning. Right on time. Got to see a flock of mallards, a great blue heron, and 3 white-tailed deer upon our arrival at the farm pond this afternoon. Yummy BK chicken nuggets for lunch!
- January 23, 2017: The sound of wind roaring through the trees. Snowball snow. Electric staying on.
- January 24, 2017: Making it to the bus stop on time, despite waking up late. Plush animal prizes from school fundraisers. Coffee with peppermint mocha creamer on cold, snowy days.
- January 25, 2017: A beautiful day of Spring-like weather. Gorgeous sunset. Much-needed socks, thermals, and t-shirts for free. Answers to troubling questions and support from others. Creamed chicken with mashed potatoes, peaches, chocolate cake w/chocolate frosting, and harvest iced tea.
- January 26, 2017: A good night's sleep. French vanilla creamer. Community service opportunities. Finding out he got accepted to the Hidden Promise Scholars program.
- January 27, 2017: Getting two loads of laundry and a load of dishes done, as well as two bags of trash bagged up and ready to go.
- January 29, 2017: Being able to attend Sunday School and Church services this morning. The cute personalized votive cup and lavender candle I received from my secret sister.
- January 30, 2017: 2-hour delays that turn into Snow Days. My family.
