A note regarding 1997 follows this list.

    - Jurassic Park

    - Independence Day

    - Stargate

    - Waterworld

    - Jumanji [note: I don't feel good about Jumanji as regards to this list due to the large amount of CG used, but I REALLY like Jumanji. I consider it an anomaly and draw the line here.]

    - The Rock

    - True Lies

    - Bad boys

    - Cliffhanger

While technically falling within ‘mid-ninties,’ as I have set to begin the list at ‘93 with Jurassic Park, in my opinion 1997 exists outside the ethos of mid-ninties films, relying too heavily on computer animation and too self-aware of the market for popcorn blockbusters. This isn’t to say ID4 and Jurassic Park aren’t popcorn blockbusters. I simply believe the likes of M.I.B. and Fifth Element to be of a different generation of film.
