Kay has been working as a Kingsman Manila agent for the past seven years. He specialises in field work that requires the utmost discretion. As such, he is most suited to missions that require deep cover and a long waiting game. When he isn't in the field, Kay blows shit up at Merlin Department, gives other agents hell on leg day, and kicks recruits out of flying planes.

  • Alex Lim was born to an unknown man and the daughter of a Chinese-Filipino magnate. To save face and to avoid legal complications with inheritance, his mother and maternal grandfather kept him a secret from the family.
  • At around three years-old, Alex's grandfather enrolled him at an international boarding school run by Singaporeans. He was placed under the care of his homeroom teacher, Mrs Lim (no relation). His mother took him out for a few hours every weekend, but he never went home during the holidays.
  • Alex was a bright student, especially in math and languages. He could communicate with his classmates who spoke Mandarin and Malay, though he never studied them. Mrs Lim convinced him to take a foreign language class. He chose Spanish since it was spoken by many people all over the world.
  • Alex was also a troublemaker. He was emotionally underdeveloped, uninterested in socialising with his peers, and mean-spirited towards those he disliked. He enjoyed P.E. class because it gave him an excuse to be rough with people who had wronged him.
  • His classmate, Hiro Jojima, noticed Alex's physical potential and felt this can be used in a more productive and disciplined way. As captain, he begged Alex to join the Taekwondo club and was refused many times. Eventually, the two became close friends and trained together, representing their school in national competitions. Hiro also taught Alex how to speak and write in Japanese.
  • As time went by, Alex's mother visited less and less frequently until she finally disappeared around the time he reached high school. Around his Sophomore year, his grandfather passed away, cutting off his matriculation for schooling.
  • Since he had no family left, Mrs Lim and the Jojima family struck a deal with the school to keep Alex onboard. They settled on a sports scholarship, with Alex representing the school on the fencing team. All miscellaneous fees fell to the Jojima family, which Alex paid back by working part-time for Jojima Law Offices.
  • Since he has no home and flight school is too expensive, Lim settles with his best option: the Air Force. He enrolls to the Educational Benefit scholarship under the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He earns his BS Physics degree and graduates in the top ten of his class.
  • Lim finishes his mandatory service and stays for a total of three years in the 221st Airlift Squadron. His duties consisted of tactical air transport, evacuation and relief support, long range maritime patrol, air reconnaissance, and training aircrew. He reaches the rank of E-4 Sergeant.
  • Lim qualifies for a transfer to the 750th Combat Group of the Special Operations Wing and stays on for four years. His work involved air strikes, humanitarian assistance, evacuation and relief support, bomb detection and disposal, civil disturbance control, and counter-terrorism operations.
  • Lim assists Kingsman during a hijacking of a commercial flight. (Then-)Percival prevents an assassination attempt on a government official and his family, but the pilot is dead and the co-pilot is gravely injured. The plane suffers a bird strike, but Lim manages to land safely on one engine.
  • Percival contacts Lim after the former Kay dies in gruesome fashion. Lim leaves the Air Force with the rank of E-5 Staff Sergeant and joins the Kingsman training programme. The Kay exam includes escaping from a sealed and burning room, seducing a virgin teenager at a sex club, escaping a foreign country with nothing but one’s wits, and being shocked by electric chair under duress.
  • Lim is knighted as the next Kay for his performance in the loyalty test (i.e., the electric chair exam). He spends most of his first year in reconnaissance, air support, and extraction back-up.
  • Percival's granddaughter is born. Kay is made unofficial godfather.
  • Playing to his strengths, Kay is chosen as a liaison to an ongoing special project with Kingsman London and MI-5. He stays in London for two years, directly reporting to the XX (pronounced as 'Double Cross') Committee. The project is almost sabotaged due to intervention from U.N.C.L.E.
  • With Kingsman's blessing, Kay is borrowed by the newly formed U.N.C.L.E. for a few operations under Section III. He stays in New York for three months.
  • Percival loses his legs in an explosion and is replaced with the current Percival, Park Jun Ho. The former Percival remains on staff, training recruits and serving as a handler for certain missions.
