- because i'm paying $600 more a year, and it sucks.
- it doesn't have air conditioning, unlike the cheaper one.
- i'm pretty sure the heat's not going to work in the winter. i mean, if the incredibly dented and banged up 70s-era radiator has anything to say about it.
- it's not insulated, so i hear every noise outside.
- my dresser keeps breaking.
- there are no in-house maintenance people for when things like that happen...
- ...or for when lights burn out. apparently campus maintenance is "looking into" my "problem." i can't see past 6pm!
- no academic advising available on-site. unlike last year, when i just had to walk downstairs.
- after notifying housing of the five-day delay in getting my mail, the desk supervisor sent me an angry email explaining why what i told housing was a lie, and that i had actually picked up my mail three days before i was notified of getting it. hmm.
- there aren't any free dinners, ice cream socials, barbecues, campfire nights, or late-night breakfasts here.
- we have no security aside from a locked front door. this worries me.
- my neighbors don't talk. i'm not an incredibly social person, but i like it when people at least say "hi" back to me. by this time last year, i'd made about fifteen friends in my dorm.
- nobody cares about this dorm. it only has about 25 residents, so apparently it doesn't matter
- the fact that we don't warrant garbage pickup more than (it seems) once every three weeks, so if i want to use a trashcan, i have to actually plan for it.
- work is inconvenient (which i recognize is partly my fault). because i don't live in that building this year, i have no access to the building if it's not meal time. which means i have to use the awkward doors if i work a non-mealtime shift (which is a lot of the time).
- because the dorm i lived in last year was amazing, as were the people that lived in it.
