i read a travel book :)

  • peruvian electricity is 220 volts. i'll need a converter/adapter
  • proper attire for most restaurants is skirts and nice tops. t-shirts and shorts/jeans are considered appropriate for only the more relaxed environments.
  • it's really important not to use the water. even getting drinks with ice or brushing your teeth with tap water can be harmful, depending on the area. it's best to always use bottled.
  • a spritz bottle of bug spray (not aerosol, it won't be allowed on the plane) will be necessary, as it's very, very buggy.
  • i'll need to check if i can use my debit card at peruvian atms. the exchange rate is apparently best at atms in the big cities.
  • contacts, my camera, prescriptions, and any medicine i think i'll need should go in the carryon. apparently you never know what could happen to your glasses.
  • i should make two copies of my passport - one to stay at home with my mom and one to carry with me at all times, because it's not safe to carry the actual booklet - that should stay locked in the hotel safe at all times.
