So, there was this really great speech that we watched in my oral comm class the other day. Chris Matthews was the speaker. I guess he's some political guy..I seem to want to call him Dave Matthews--but that's not right! Anyway...here are a few things I learned from that speech.
- If you want to be somewhere or you want to do something...you have to get a seat at that table.
- Be there when the lightning strikes--because something will happen eventually!
- Ya gotta ask. No one will come to your door and say "I heard you have a dream" it's your job to go out and ask for it.
- Believe in something, big or small, believe in something.
- Follow your beliefs, even if they make you different.
- Ideas are powerful
I don't really know who this guy is, I don't really know much about him besides what he said in the speech. But I will tell you that in the 20 minutes he spoke I was writing down everything I could. He made a lot of sense and he promised that what he said would be useful. I am inclined to agree with him.
