ingredients:
- 2 tbsp of unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp cake flour
- 1 cup bouillon broth (1 cup water + 1 tsp beef bouillon powder)
- 150 g thin beef slices
- salt/pepper
- 1/2 tbsp olive oil
- 2/3 cup onions (sliced)
- 1 tbsp garlic (chopped)
- handful of button mushrooms (sliced)
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1/2 cup canned diced tomatoes
- 1.5 tsp honey
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp soy sauce
directions:
- add 1 tbsp butter onto pan and melt. add sieved flour until it turns brown.
- add 1/3 of bouillon broth and stir until it becomes a light brown roux and set aside
- sprinkle beef slices with salt and pepper before placing in fry pan to cook on high
- when beef is lightly cooked (both sides brown), take the beef out and set aside
- add 1 tbsp butter onto the pan and turn heat to medium
- when butter melts, add sliced onion cooking until translucent
- add garlic and mushrooms
- when mushrooms start to wilt, add ketchup
- when vegetables are almost soft, add the beef, rest of bouillon broth, canned diced tomatoes, honey, and bay leaf to the pan
- turn heat to high and until boil and cover and reduce to low for 5-6 min
- remove lid and add the roux and dissolve
- add 1/2 tsp salt and soy sauce
- put on top of rice and we done
