ingredients:
- 10.6 oz bottom round roast
- salt/pepper
- 1 cup dashi stock (1/2 tsp dashi stock powder in 1 cup water)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2.5 tbsp mirin
- 1/4 onion (thinly sliced)
directions:
- in a pot combine dashi stock, soy sauce, and mirin and bring to boil
- lightly sprinkle salt and pepper all over the beef
- heat a pan and coat with oil before searing each side of the beef
- once entire surface is brown and add the beef into the sauce
- bring to boil before lowering heat to low
- simmer for 15 minutes (flip 2-3 times while cooking)
- turn off burner and let it sit until cool
- dunk onion into ice water for 5 minutes
- slice beef thinly (can cover or dip in sauce when eating)
