I feel like words have become so overused, oversaid, overrated

but I want you to know I've never once taken them for granted

I want you to know I meant everything I once breathed to you

like I was stringing little specks of my own beating heart onto every syllable latched against your skin

I want you to know I would overthrow and recreate and reinvent the whole dictionary for you, paint an entirely new world and system of meaning on its own

if it meant I could conjure up new ways, novel ways to say 'you're worth it' and 'i love you' so they don't brand my lips like sins of indisposition or kiss your temple like an afterthought

there is nothing about you that's even remotely second best.
