7/24

  • Record of the year: "Love the Way You Lie" - Eminem ft. Rihanna
    • Winner: "Need You Now" by Lady Antebellum (WHAT THE FUCK)
    • I'm fairly certain about this one!
  • Album of the year: "The Fame Monster" - Lady Gaga
    • I will be completely satisfied if she or Eminem wins this award...they both deserve it for different reasons.
  • Song of the year: "Love the Way You Lie" - Eminem ft. Rhianna
    • Winner: "Need You Now" by Lady Antebellum (WHAT THE FUCK)
  • Best new artist: Mumford & Sons
    • Winner: Esperanza Spalding
    • If not them, probably Drake. MAYBE Florence & The Machine. If Bieber wins this, I am going to punch a hole in my TV.
  • Best female pop vocal performance: "Halo" - Beyonce
    • Winner: Lady GaGa
    • Lady GaGa might win this one. Honestly, all of the nominees are pretty deserving of the award. I would love to see Sara Bareilles win, though. I'm rooting for her. GaGa has enough of the spotlight already, and "King of Anything" is an AMAZING song.
  • Best male pop vocal performance: "This Is It" - Michael Jackson
    • Winner: Bruno Mars
    • Do I think Michael should win this award just because he died and we should all honor his musical genius? No. I think he deserves it, and I honestly don't think any of the other songs/artists even come close to this song/him.
  • Best pop performance by a duo or group with vocals: "Don't Stop Believin'" - Glee Cast
    • Winner: "Hey, Soul Sister" by Train
    • I hate on Glee a lot...but occasionally they produce some great recordings. This is one of the only songs from the show that I've heard and like- no, make that LOVE.
  • Best pop collaboration with vocals: "Telephone" - Lady GaGa and Beyonce
    • Winner: "Imagine" by a bunch of folks
    • Granted, I don't know every single one of the songs nominated, but I'm pretty sure this one blows most of them out of the water.
  • Best pop vocal album: "The Fame Monster" - Lady GaGa
    • If Bieber wins, skulls are going to get crushed. Also, it's AWESOME that Susan Boyle was nominated!
  • Best dance recording: "Dance in the Dark" - Lady GaGa
    • Winner: "Only Girl (In The World)" by Rihanna
    • TOUGH CALL! I think it SHOULD go to La Roux but I have the feeling it probably won't. If not GaGa, probably Rhianna?
  • Best solo rock vocal performance: "Silver Rider" - Robert Plant
    • Winner: "Helter Skelter" by Paul McCartney
    • Just a random feeling- I don't know enough to make an accurate prediction.
  • Best hard rock performance: "Let Me Hear You Scream" - Ozzy Osbourne
    • Winner: "New Fang" by Them Crooked Vultures
    • This is pretty unwarranted- I just ADORE Ozzy and will be heartbroken if he doesn't win!
  • Best rock song: "Little Lion Man" - Mumford & Sons
    • Winner: "Angry World" by Neil Young
    • These lyrics are sheer brilliance. 'Nuff said.
  • Best rock album: "Le Noise" - Neil Young
    • Winner: Muse
    • He just seems like a more probable winner than the others, I suppose.
  • Best alternative music album: "The Suburbs" - Arcade Fire
    • Winner: Brothers by The Black Keys
    • I don't know this album very well, but if I have to put money on anyone, it's them, followed by Vampire Weekend. Props to Band of Horses for getting nominated!
  • Best urban/alternative performance: "Fuck You" - Cee Lo Green
    • Hopefully!
  • Best rap solo performance: "Not Afraid" - Eminem
    • I know I'm biased- Eminem super-fan here. Luda MIGHT win, but I don't think any of the other songs nominated even come close to "Not Afraid."
  • Best rap/sung collaboration: "Love the Way You Lie" - Eminem ft. Rhianna
    • Winner: "Empire State of Mind" by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys
    • Yeah...
  • Best rap song: "Not Afraid" - Eminem
    • Winner: "Empire State of Mind" by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys
    • Toss-up between this and "Love the Way You Lie" but overall I think the lyrics in "Not Afraid" are better.
  • Best rap album: "Recovery" - Eminem
    • FUCK YES.
  • Best rock or rap gospel album: "Hello Hurricane" - Switchfoot
    • FUCK YES.
  • Best musical show album: "American Idiot" - Ft. Green Day
  • Best score soundtrack album for motion picture, television, or other visual media: "Inception" - Hans Zimmer
    • Winner: Toy Story 3
  • Best short form music video: "Bad Romance" - Lady GaGa
