self-discovery

In 2013, I want to find something I like. It doesn’t matter what, but it has to be something I have a passion for. I want to know more about me, spend more “me” time. Write more. Put myself out there and get inspired. Think less, do more. Do more things that I like – but nothing illegal and crazily impulsive, of course. And no more being anti-social – get out of your shell, self.

    • give 50% of things that I usually cringe at or shy away from a chance
    • listen to music from a variety of artistes of different genres
    • try 5 things that I have never done before
    • say “yes! / sure!” to things I will usually say “nooo!” to
    • :| → ☺ aka. be friendlier and make new friends
    • try a new sport
    • travel to somewhere further away, preferably out of asia
    • spontaneous trips to coffee bean / starbucks to read, daydream, etc.
    • 15 books (textbooks don’t count)
    • 35 movies
    • discover 5 majors I would like to do in university
    • find 5 universities I want to go to (sg / uk / us)

self-improvement

Mastering Korean will be #1 – no more giving up something that I like and excel in. I want to be more than just conversational, I want to have good pronounciation and perfect simple grammar. Also to take care of my body, I should never take my health for granted. And in 2013, it is not about making a difference in myself, but also making a difference in other peoples’ lives. This year, I want to be a positive change.

    • brush up on my Korean grammar
    • find a korean friend to practice korean / english with me
    • buy TTMIK books and learn
    • a facial mask once a month (twice if I’m stressed)
    • sweet, carbonated drinks only once a week
    • a healthy supper 3 days a week, no supper 3 or 4 days a week, junk food supper for 2 days a month
    • eat more vegetables
    • hit the gym once a month
    • go green – use less plastic bags and less disposables
    • at least 85 hours of community service
    • do more community service in general
    • participate in an o-cip
    • project ‘flourish’ with izza and ruilin to be a success (cannot be carried out)
    • take the SAT and hit 2100
    • bank in at least $250 in December
    • donate $100 at the end of 2013 to make a wish foundation
    • (& if possible, donate $x too to singapore children’s society)
    • pack up my clothes at the end of 2013 and donate to salvation army

self-development

I want to grow as a person. I want to be different this year. Not a 180° change, but I want to see a good change in myself. Out with the bad habits and in with the good. Treat others better, treat myself better. Be. more. organized!!

    • sleep / eat / drink / rest regularly (keyword: regularly)
    • update my planner frequently and follow it dutifully
    • write a mini reflection in my planner every week
    • be outspoken in class – a voluntary question or comment every week
    • read the newspaper ‘forum’ section at least twice a week
    • read the newspaper ‘editorial’ section at least once a week
    • control my temper – stress is no excuse to blow up at the innocent
    • surprise my friends and family – with compliments, cards, gifts, etc.
    • be thankful for at least 1 thing every day, note it down somewhere
    • work part-time during the end of year holidays
