  • Content?: Cringe 2010s Tumblr humor I guess (though there's also a fire at the beginning and technically all of the animals are dead so)
  • Playtime: About an hour or less

  • General Rating: 6

    • It's been 10 years since Pom Gets Wi-Fi was released... scary. Having played this after Lei's other works, you can definitely see the difference in quality. I wouldn't say this game is bad by any means, but it has very distinct 2010s Tumblr humor that I mentioned above, of which I can only handle so much, and it also deals with 2003's ATB system, which works, but I wasn't the most fond of...?
    • Lei's art and design are very well done. There aren't vividly detailed maps, but they're all nice to look at. The characters are good, too. It's clear that Pom has her own brand of what I'd describe as "insanity" and everyone else has no idea what it is or why it is. Poor Shibe. He deals with so much. I am quite fond of the amount of references. I'd heard about the funyarinpa joke ahead of time, but I didn't know there'd be Tenmyouji and Quark dogs... they're so cute and they made my heart whole. I can't say I got every reference, but the ones I did were definitely fun. Congrats to Pom for willing NTWEWY into existence.
    • There's a simple story, and it's fine! The joke-combat system the game has is alright, too, but wasn't quite my thing. All the quests were easy enough to take care of, though I didn't realize how to get the "best" of the two endings, and probably wouldn't have thought of it without looking at a guide. (Not blaming that one on the game, just my lack of ideas.) There isn't too much to say in these regards, I feel?
    • Overall, if you don't take it too seriously and if you can handle the 2010s humor, Pom Gets Wi-Fi will be a silly and fun hour. Otherwise, it may not be your thing. I had a good time with it, but I wouldn't say it was "exceptional," per se. I'd recommend Lei's Butterfly Soup visual novels for sure, though!
