Overall a good year. I feel I explored and learned quite a bit, tackled some of the classics but read a good handful of current releases as well. I also took the time in the Spring to reread some of my favorite young adult series from when I was in middle school, which was a fun flashback.

Interesting statistics compared to last year though; while I read 12 books more in 2013 than 2012, the average pages per book dropped by about 100. Which seems crazy to me since, between George RR Martin and Charles Dickens, I felt as if I were lugging around mammoth books all year.

Also, shout out to Ned Beauman for Teleportation Accident and Boxer, Beetle for being my most-likely-to-get-drunk-and-ramble-about books of the year. I don't know if it's his intelligent writing style, hilarious scenarios, or the homoeroticism that drunk me loves so much, but god help me if the bloke at the next bar stool randomly brings up fascism.

Goals for next year? I feel around 40 books a year is a good number for my reading habits and lifestyle, but next year I would really like to increase the pages read and average pages per book. Less young adult rereads and more classic literature, per-say.
