- why is latin america shafted in history classes in america? (okay, why was it shafted at in my k-12 school career in a privileged suburban part of america?)
- what are factors at work behind the self-loathing of vietnamese culture? (this is more psychological, i think, which is totally not a domain i will even attempt to feign knowledge in: too many feelings)
- communism and its larger role in the world
- feminism and issues of sex and gender
- history as a social construct
- vietnamese culture, but not in any sort of positive way (relates to #2)
- argentina, or latin america as a whole, particularly from the 18th century (at the earliest) onward
- stalin
- in general, anything about europe is generally interesting to me, but i am not particularly drawn to any specific time period / event or anything. i will always find world war i to be the most interesting war (thank you, all quiet on the western front), but the french revolution is interesting. ho hum!
- depictions of issues in the (visual) media, particularly television and photographs, though film could be interesting but i am the furthest thing from a person capable of "studying" film since i consider disney movies (lemonade mouth) to be works of art
- those at the margins of society: why, what were the motivations, what made them monsters, what made them abnormal, strange, ostracized? what made them different or deviant?
- history versus memory
