but: THINGS I WISH I HAD KNOWN / THINGS I WISH I HAD IGNORED THE PROFESSIONALS ABOUT / THINGS I WISH PEOPLE HAD TOLD ME
- strickland's
- third floor of humanities hall
- 12 units is for idiots
- 16 units is not even that bad***** granted on the part of my grad school applications i'm going to be all YEAH IT WAS RLY HARD FOR ME T____T I WAS WORKING etc sob story???? lulz but tbh it was just really shitty time management + fuck vietnamese man
- 20 units should be acceptable and doable for everyone, THAT SHOULD BE THE NORM
- what the fuck with this "YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO ALL YOUR GEs IN YOUR FIRST/SECOND YEARS!" FUCK NO IT IS WHY I STILL HAVE ONE MORE FUCKING SCIENCE CLASS TO DO / LANGUAGE TO TAKE like if you find something you like by your third year THE LAST THING YOU HAVE TIME FOR / WANT TO DO ARE USELESS AS FUCK GEs
- some TAs are great, some are not
- YOU WILL BE ABLE TO TELL WHICH PROFESSORS ARE APPROACHABLE AND WHICH ARE NOT
- YOU ARE BELOW PROFESSORS, ACT THAT WAY
- do an honors program if you miss small learning environments
- PARTYING CAN BE FUN!
- STUDY ABROAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
- if you have interests, JUST GO WITH THEM, don't take stupid shit that people who are behaving and giving you advice according to a given mold of a first year/second year/third year/fourth year/fifth+ year THAT IS PROBABLY MOST DEFINITELY WRONG
- the difference between lower divs and upper divs is nothing but this is coming from a girl who just failed her second upper div anthro class sOOOOOO (but i mean in terms of history!!! the upper divs are way more fun/better/etc than the lower divs) (5EVER BITTER ABOUT 70D TBH)
- actually do shit your first year/second years, fuck this ~adjusting~~~~~ period (especially if you're commuting??? like i felt no difference between high school and college as a first year??? even as a second year until... maybe the second half????)
- it is probably best if you have access to your email at all times, i.e., having a smart phone has changed my life negl
eta july 2014!
- mostly enjoy it
- accept that if you hadn't made the decisions you did, you wouldn't be where you are!
- make good good friends w/ the people who suffer alongside you--my cohort 5eva
- do stupid shit smartly
- talk to professors!!!!!! but gotta prepare!!!!!!1
- try new things. just do it!!!
- intern!!!!!1 anywhere!!!!! it's good practice for actually being a grown-up
- realize that none of the stuff you learn in college has actual relevance to what you do as a grown-up
- but whatever: you live and you learn through some terrible TAs, some terrible professors, but also some of the most important, coolest, most brilliant TAs and professors you ever have. also, really really great friends and classmates. wahoo!
- DO IT ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
