Dear Future Meaghan,

You and Matt didn't work out for a variety of reasons, the biggest being that he's going to jail, and that makes it impossible for you two to be citizens of the same country one day.

On top of that, you had ignored multiple red flags that had popped up in the relationship over the two years that you'd been together because you wanted to have that perfect, high school sweetheart relationship that could conquer everything. It's a fine goal, and with the right person, there will be no red flags to ignore, and you'll just know. There won't be a doubt you keep pushing to the side because you think it's not important.

When the right person comes along, you'll know it. For now, I encourage you to live only for yourself, enjoy it, discover new things, and explore your interests. Be the best person you can be, and remember that the right man is coming as fast as he can.

Remember that loving yourself is most important. Only when you can truly love and enjoy your own company can someone else truly do the same.
