I dream of living in a tiny house; something like this: http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/products/loring/#ad-image-0

My requirements for this house:

  • It needs to be set on a foundation (i.e. no trailer-type houses).
  • It needs to be built to stand Canadian winters.
  • It needs to be build with as many sustainable materials as I can afford.
  • It needs to have a small, apartment-sized washing machine (no need for dryer).
  • It needs to be able to have a solar panel attached to it in some way (preferably the roof).
  • I would love to have one of those toilets that have two buttons (one for liquids, one for solids) that controls how much water is used to flush.

I want to be able to have this house located in a walkable/cyclable area so that my dependence on owning/renting a car is diminished as much as possible.

I want my house paid off. I'd love to be located in a city, or as close to one as possible, though I realize that finding a place in Montreal will be next to impossible.

I need to find a company who deals with Canadian clients/understands the wintering needs of a Canadian client. I need to massively downsize my possessions. I need to save money to be able to buy the plans, materials, etc. and have someone build this house for me :P

--- My House, Vision Board Style --- Written in the most positive way I can come up with to describe what I want in the present tense; the universe will figure out how to make this happen:

I live in a tiny house, free of any fixed bills such as a mortgage, water, electricity or gas bills. I grow my own food and use natural, renewable resources to supply my house with power and heat.
