Post Battle of Hogwarts "8th year" of school. Harry and Ron have chosen not to return to Hogwarts and instead begin their Auror training. Hermione has chosen to return to Hogwarts to do her 7th year officially, take the N.E.W.T.'s and graduate. Draco Malfoy decides to redo his 7th year of Hogwarts schooling as an '8th year'. They discover to have more in common than they realize.
For a moment, she's almost giddy. Because Draco Malfoy's been ruined by this war and he's as out of place as she is and — yes, he has scars too. He's got an even bigger one. She wonders whether one day they'll compare sizes.
Stranded together in the wilderness, Hermione and Draco are in for cold nights, endless snark, bad wine, and some interesting scars.
Hermione felt the pounding in her ears again. She would see him for the first time since the Great Hall, gaunt and stricken at the Slytherin table with his mother clutching his arm. She hadn't meant to look for him. Not in the corridors, not beneath the white sheets of the fallen, not on the way to the Chamber of Secrets with Ron, but she was a stupid girl.

“Granger—“ Draco yelped her name as she came dangerously close to driving his family jewels up into his lower abdomen.
“Be quiet!” Her eyes were inches away from his and flashing dangerously. Her entire body was pressed firmly against Draco’s in a way that could have been incredibly arousing in literally any other circumstance.
