Breast Pump is a mechanical device used to extort milk from the breasts of a mother. Breast pumps are powered manually or by electricity for its functioning. The United States Patent Office issue official document # 11, 135 to O. H. Needham for breast pump on 20th June, 1854. In 1863 Scientific American (1863) acclaims L.O. Colbin as the discoverer and obvious applicant of a breast pump. Edward Lasker was the first engineer who developed a mechanical breast pump in 1921-23; and was considered by physicians as a distinct advancement in existing hand operated breast pumps. But this failed to extract all milk from the breasts. For Lasker’s breast pump US Patent Office released official document # 1,644,257 to accept it. Now with passage of time breast pumps are more useful because of various features and sizes of manual and electric breast pumps.
