- make yourself necessary. find something no one else is doing-- and do it well.
- have a goal. focus on the end goal. trying to be a volunteer for projects at your work place and get the word out.
- network like crazy! find a reason to get in touch with people in power positions
- speak up! sometimes the best ideas are the ones that can be built upon
- be prepared. take a step back, breathe, think "what can I do?"
- find a mentor. you must have chemistry and it must be a two-way street. the mentor needs to reason to invest their time in you. look outside of your usual circles.
