- I know how to play the flute and the baritone horn (barely) but I want to learn how to play the harp and the cello
- I’m a vegetarian (but I still eat marshmallows)
- I miss my dog so much, it hurts (she died over the summer)
- My best friends and I are an “ethnic rainbow”. I have an Indian friend, a “West Indian”/African American friend, an Asian friend and one white friend, but she’s Jewish
- California is calling me. I desperately want to go to college there.
- Before I die, I want to see all of the beauty I possibly can in the world
- I have an aversion to answering the door and picking up the phone when I don’t know who it is.
- I wish I could speak Danish
- I think Twitter is dumb and for people who think we actually care what you do every waking moment. You should feel satisfied without public attention!
- I am a pop culture freak. I read the Vulture every day and love the AV Club Inventory lists
- Reading is super rad. Unfortunately, I often take on so many books at once, that I end up overwhelmed and forgetting about some.
- I have an awesome relationship with my mother. I think she does a fine job at whatever she does, whether it be cooking, socializing, doing her job, being a mom, doing science-y things, or anything else really
- I love the nineties, especially the Riot Grrl movement. I love Bratmobile, and Bikini Kill, and my favorite shows are Daria and the Adventures of Pete and Pete. America needs another girl riot!
- Kurt Vonnegut is one of the most fascinating, hilarious, honest and beautiful human beings to ever walk this earth.
- Sometimes I feel like I’m hipster, even though I dislike them very much and the entire idea of conformist non-conformity.
- I want to see more old movies
- I don’t consider getting married and having kids essential to my happiness, though I would do those things if it’s with the right person
- I hope I never have to get a divorce and realize I don’t want to marry someone before it comes to that
- I could spend all day in a Borders, a Barnes and Noble, a Trader Joe’s or a Whole Foods
- I love magazines
- I love playgrounds, but swings are my favorite ☺
- I wanna be adored
- I hate wasting food, especially water, so at dinner, I always try to drink all of it
- I love finding out interesting things about people, and I love reading those 25 or 35 things lists people make
- I have a very close relationship with my brother
- 2010 was a kickass year
- I wish I wore nail polish more often
- I absolutely adore clothing and fashion. I don’t really follow the fashion shows and designers, but I still love wearing weird, interesting clothes. What I’m wearing has a lot to do with my mood for the day and I hate dressing down, it makes me feel like a slob. The weirder the better.
- The new Arcade Fire album was just so…oh my god…I knew it was going to be good, but…I never anticipated how good.
- I am actually excited for junior year because I know I will learn a lot and it will e an adventure! (Though I’m sure when I’m actually in the midst of it, I’ll hate it)
- Ever since 5th grade, I have had an obsession with colleges and getting into them. College is my motivation for doing well in school. (Though I don’t think I would let my grades slip anyway)
- I’m the one who puts the most pressure on myself
- I love fruits and vegetables and eat them all of the time
- I think swimming is absolutely wonderful. It’s the closest humans can come to flying.
- I burn very easily and obsessively put on suncreen whenever I go outside
- I am in love Joseph-Gordon Levitt. I have seen (500) Days of Summer, Brick, Inception, and Mysterious Skins and have loved him all. He is the ultimate thinking woman’s sex symbol.
- I always wears mismatched socks. I can’t even remember when I started but it’s been a looooong time
- I don’t like showing people my writing because I feel extremely self-conscious about it.
- I love surprises, which is weird because I’m usually a very predictable, organized person who likes schedules and filing. But really, not knowing what you are going to get for your birthday or the ending of a movie is so much more fun.
- I love the sky. I can stare at it forever, watching the clouds twist and move in and the sun turn pink as it set. It’s magical.
- I don’t really like Sweet Sixteens or dance parties because they bore me too fast and make me feel uncomfortable. I would much rather have a relaxed type of get-together when you can sit down and actually talk to someone and get to know them.
- I actually don’t mind being alone and relish in it. I can do what I please and not worry if another person is having fun. I can be me.
- I am very confident in myself and like who I am as a person. I consider myself very lucky to have this self-assurance, as many teens my age haven’t yet discovered what’s awesome about them yet. (But trust me, everyone’s awesome!)
- Autumn is my favorite season. By far. The air has a crisp quality, and the leaves on the tree are absolutely beautiful. There’s Halloween, and apple picking, and the beginning of school, and Thanksgiving, what other season can even compare?
- I hate the cold, and have a very low tolerance for it. The winter is absolutely unbearable and even chaing my clothes in the morning for school is bone-chilling.
- But, I have a high tolerance for heat, which probably has partly to do with hot yoga
- I pride myself on my ability to admit that I am wrong and suck up my pride and apologize when needed. More people need to gain this quality.
- Topics that interest me- genetics, psychology, sociology, dystopias, Spelling bees, bee keeping, psychological disorders, human rights, feminism baby naming, pastries, pop culture, traveling, synesthesia, geisha, ballet, food philosophy, literature analysis, fashion, etc
- Every letter, number, month, day of the week, shape, and symbol has a distinct gender and personality. When doing an algebra problem, different letters in an equation have nicer than others, so I prefer finding out the value of a number I like (like d in an= a1 + (n-1)d, a1 is nice, too) I also like my answer to be a positive number, because all of the negatives are like the positives’ evil twins and not very nice. This ‘condition” (synthesia, as it is called) ha also helped me remember trigonometric equations, because I know certain trig values like each other in different ways (or dislike each other). Sine and cosecant like each other because they are reciprocals, but sine is in love with cosine, just as cosecant loves secant.
- I want to start making my own clothes. I already buy too much anyways.
- I am extremely close with my family and love spending time with them. I feel no pressure to be something around them or act a certain way. I love them all so much.
- I have a mild allergy to honey dew but this does nothing to hinder my consumption of it.
- If I could have it back, all the time that we wasted, I’d only waste it again. You know I would love to waste it again…
- I love music (just like everyone else) and actively search out new bands to worship. I would only consider myself a true fan of an artist if I owned at least one of their albums ( or many of their songs)
- I get frightened easily. I do not like bugs crawling on me, roller coasters, scary movies, the dark, being home alone at night or big drops, to name a few. My fears force me to be cautious and tentative.
- I never let myelf purposely do sub-par work or slack off in school, or anything really. I am never satisfied with any grade but an A, even if my grades didn’t mean anything. I don’t let my parents look at my grades (except for report cards), because them putting pressure on me would only make me freak out.
- I avoid using my cell-phone at all times. I dislike when people are text me or something like that. I don’t like texting. I mostly just use it to call my mom when I need to be picked or something like that. Cell phones just do not apply to my solitary hermit-esque life.
- I HATE CHRISTMAS MUSIC. It is overplayed and most of the times, extremely corny. In a perfect world, Christmas music would be played from December 23 to December 25, December 26 MAYBE. But unfortunately, idiots rule the world and we cannot get what we want
- Things I find beautiful: ballet shoes, sea glass, red lipstick, confidence, fading tombstones, walking barefoot, real emotion, originality, Alexander McQueen clothing
- as much as i definitely enjoy solitude, i wouldn't mind perhaps, spending little time with you, sometimes
- I lurve fencing. There are three different weapons, so it’s not like some sort of one type fits all sort of sport. People can choose their style according to their abilities and preference. It’s not only extremely physically grueling, but mentally so, because it’s just you and the opponent. You have to get inside their head and trick them, in essence, or at least be fast than them. It’s such a personally gratifying sport.
- I’m not going to let little things or the supposed stupidity of others piss me off. The world does not revolve around me.
- It makes me incredibly depressed that David Foster Wallace is no longer alive. His writing is so beautiful and complex and honest, and it literally moves me. I desperately want to write a letter to him explaining how much of an impact his writing has had on me. And, before he died, he worked at Pomona. Pomona! If I go there, I could possibly have a class taught by him, or at the very least stalk him and force him to become my best friend. (I mean come on, I’m awesome! It would totally work!) Unfortunately, a brilliant mind often comes with mental ailment.
