American Beauty LOVED it. It's sad and emotional and shocking, but beautiful. Above all, beautiful. The characters are all relateable and thoughtful, but never perfect. Kevin Spacey and Thora Birch are especially wonderful. The themes and ideas present throughout the story, (beauty, normalcy, et) were absoutely brilliant.
Sixth Sense A great movie, all around. It's haunting and border-line disturbing, but balances that with raw human emotion. The ending is brilliant (though unoriginal when compared to Shamylan's other movies), as is Haley Joel Osment. This is one of those movies that's just as great the second or third time around. Not as meaningful as American Beauty, though.
Cider House Rules Didn't even finish watching it. I found it too boring and a bit to0 forced to be taken seriously as an Oscar pick. Michael Caine, of course did wonderfully, as the ether-addicted Orphanage-doctor/ father-like figure to Tobey Maguire, but besides that, the movie failed to keep my interest. Seeing Paul Rudd was a treat, though.
