inspired by michael myers, a selectively mute killer, who murdered her immediate family as a teenager, then went on to spend 10~ in prison. she's let out on good behaviour and put into a program to rehabilitate inmates who have spent quite a bit of time inside. no company want to take her but pony express, knowing they don't have to treat or pay her well, gladly does, putting her into curly's already full crew.

her attachment to anya comes from her being the only one on board to seem to be kind to her, to somewhat trust her even though she knows what seren did in her past, something that she has no remorse for. seren's intense affection for anya, rescues her from jimmy's assault, permanently disabling him rather than killing him, per anya's request.

their relationship grows after this, continuing after they've completed their journey and made it back to earth. anya falling so hard for her that seren invites her to live with her, wanting to explore their relationship more, leading them to start dating.

anya's feelings about the whole affair are very conflicted, knowing that seren's own morals conflict her own, but with how softly seren treats her, how she looks at her with nothing but kindness and complete admiration, knowing that seren would do anything for her, pulls her heart and mind in ways she never expected. she can't get herself to stop loving her.

serenity hates when people call her by her name, even becoming hostile when refered to as anything but the stupid nickname her cellmate gave her - myers. but, when anya says it, it doesn't sound all that bad. this is the only relationship seren will ever be in, a thing that she never thought she'd get, not really caring in general about the whole concept but anya changed that for her. she will be her first and last, and she'll make sure it's the same for anya too.

• prisoner serenity / prison nurse anya

anya being a prison nurse during serenity's original sentence. after seren's first time in her office, her good behaviour suddenly switches to violent and irritable, always ending up back in there with her favourite nurse. anya is both flattered and afraid, she knows what seren did and has no clue to why she's attached herself to her but does her best to keep her happy, anya's own feeling growing during.

• farmer serenity / small town doctor anya

since anya's surgery is closest to the farming village, her and her team are always sent out when there are any issues. the first time she goes to treat seren, they're absolutely smitten with her, going as far as to actually speak to her, something she has never done with any of the other doctors. when anya's coworkers find out, they're quick to send her to seren's whenever there's an issue, knowing that seren is incredibly comfortable with her. anya doesn't realise that seren is into her at all, until the other farmers start teasing her about it, that's when it clicks. despite their mutual feelings, their relationship blossoms slowly.

• demon serenity / angel anya

in life, their relationship was solid and stable, their love never fading. they never thought about death, not knowing it would come for them so quickly, never thinking about what is waiting for them after they die, if there was anything at all. their unasked question was answered when seren ends up in hell and anya ends up in heaven. since her arrival, despite being in 'paradise', anya hasn't smiled once, without her love there felt no reason to, but she knows that where ever she is, seren would come and find her, no matter if it took millenniums. the moment seren is given a form, she starts her search, swearing to find anya, not caring if she has to kill everyone in her path to get to her.
