MOM ERA '23 - PRESENT
POST UNI '17 - '23
Got more serious learning more Japanese & Spanish bands, but I did have to start paying 9.99 a month. Kept paying for a subscription until the price went up to 11.99 & I cancelled indefinitely.
SOPH, JR. SR, SUPER SR '14 - '17
I made lots of playlists on YouTube & I remember Spotify was free for students, but Spotify eventually won out.
FRESHMAN AT UNI '13 - '14
Didn't get a smartphone until going to college, and even then I was gifted an iPod touch for Christmas so most of my listening habits became virtual. Still downloaded songs & albums every now and then. Eventually lost my iPod touch carelessly, so I used an MP3 player on my smartphone to listen to music.
HIGH SCHOOL '09 - '13
First MP3 player was a hand-me-down from my best friend Milan. She kept her old songs on there so I listened to Japanese music & pop rock for the first time. Learned how to use Limewire & MP3Skull to download what I wanted. Broke the damn thing a year later. Somehow acquired a Walkman type MP3 & I made sure to take extra care of that one (still have it by the way, and it works!).
MIDDLE SCHOOL '06 - '09
Before owning a CD player I owned a couple different scan radios. I thought they were so punk, so cool. My first CDs were Jonas Brothers & Hannah Montana, then my love for Rise Against & rock music took over lol. My first RA albums were Appeal to Reason & The Unraveling.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL '01 - '06
Mostly listened to what my mom played on the radio but I have memories of actively scanning for & listening to Radio Disney so, I guess I had control sometimes
GROWING UP '95 - '01
I have vague memories of my mom owning a box of cassettes & me just popping them into the big fat radio players & rewinding the circle holes with my little fingers. I had 1 favorite cassette & it was a mixed tape but I never knew who made it. It was a playlist before playlists existed.
